If Barbie were to magically come to life, we’re pretty sure her human form would look exactly like “Gossip Girl” Blake Lively. The young starlet is breathtakingly beautiful, with perfect hair, flawless skin – and statuesque height to match. Naturally, Blake’s model figure has become inspiration for designers around the world – and King of Chanel Karl Lagerfeld has even replaced his former muse with Miss Blake herself! Since we barely clear the five-foot mark, we are constantly wowed by the bold pieces Blake can pull off with style and ease. And at the 2011 ELLE Style Awards in London on February 14th, the statuesque star certainly did not disappoint. It was the Style Awards, after all, so many of the night’s biggest stars didn’t hold back when it came their fashion choices. Blake chose a borderline-neon aqua blue Emilio Pucci design, and wore the frock to perfection. It takes a confident girl to pull off such a bright color and daring cut, but we think Blake looked fantastic. The dress was strapless but featured cascading swaths of ruffling fabric and an asymmetrical hemline that requires major height – and attitude – to wear. And in true Lively style, she totally pulled it off.
Blake, who took home a Style Award that night for “Best TV Star” paired her bright blue confection with fuchsia Christian Louboutin sandals, and the color combination had us longing for a tropical vacation! She accessorized minimally, opting for a simple pair of gold drop earrings that complimented the look perfectly.
If you’re interested in pulling off two seemingly contrasting hues, remember to keep the colors solid, like Blake did here. Mixing boldly colored patterns and prints gets tricky, but if both pieces are solid – like Blake’s solid blue and fuchsia – it’s easy to mix and match. Keep accessories to a minimum and wear those bright hues with confidence and attitude!
