Out of all the year’s awards shows, we particularly love the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Maybe it’s because the nominees and winners are especially smitten with each other, or maybe it’s because there’s just something more sincere about peers honoring each other than when some obscure, faceless “academy” decides which actors and films deserve accolades. Either way, there’s always an extra shot of delight seemingly infused into the air at the SAG red carpet arrivals, and this year was no exception. In fact, we saw a few former fashion failures step outside of their comfort zones this year and really nail their looks at the show.

Kim Kardashian, who’s famous for sporting a face full of pancake makeup and miles of false lashes, looked surprisingly fresh-faced. Mad Men hottie Christina Hendricks typically likes to show off her fabulous curves a little too much, but she opted for demure long sleeves at the awards. We loved seeing all of our favorite stars shake up their signature styles for such a big night in Hollywood, but our pick for best-dressed belongs to funny gal Tina Fey. The comedienne, who favors frumpy shapes and dark shades of black and navy for the red carpet, wowed us all in a bright red, strapless lace-and-feather Oscar de la Renta confection. From head to toe, her look was nothing to laugh at!

Tina is beloved by fans and industry insiders alike, for her authentic and down-to-earth approach to comedy. Her NBC smash hit, “30 Rock” has earned so many awards we’ve lost count. But the one area where Tina seemed to falter was with her fashion choices for red carpet events – until now.
Tina’s side-swept chignon and peaches-and-cream complexion were a beautiful finishing touch to her red-hot look. Her black Christian Louboutin clutch bag and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry were the perfect accessories, and we give her our stylish stamp of approval. If you’re in a fashion rut, take a cue from Tina and step outside your comfort zone. You just may end up loving your bold new look!
