In 2002, AUTORE launched a jewellery collection designed in collaboration with Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe. Featuring streamlined santoprene, 18ct gold and silver clasps and South Sea pearls, the collection consisted of unisex neck and wrist pieces.
Thorpe, also known as the Thorpedo or Thorpey, is a former Australian freestyle swimmer. He has won five Olympic gold medals, the most won by any Australian, and in 2001 he became the first person to win six gold medals in one World Championship. More recently, Thorpe has also emerged as a philanthropist, founding the Ian Thorpe’s Fountain for youth in 2000.
