Phat Farm, a division of Phat Fashions, is symbol of men’s contemporary American culture, mixing the urban aesthetics of the streets and the preppy culture of the Ivy League. In 2004, Phat Fashions (parent brand for Phat Farm and Baby Phat) was sold to Kellwood Industries for a reported $140 million. Russell Simmons stepped down as Phat Farm CEO in late 2007 to concentrate on other business ventures.
Simmons is an American entrepreneur and philanthropist. In 2007 USA Today named Russell Simmons one of the “Top 25 Most Influential People of the Past 25 Years,”calling him a “hip-hop pioneer” for his groundbreaking vision that has influenced music, fashion, finance, television and film, as well as the face of modern philanthropy. Russell is a vegan and a yoga enthusiast he preforms japa meditation daily.
