Andre Benjamin said that his Benjamin Bixby clothing line is not necessarily troubled, but is currently “surviving”.  About the same time last year, Andre said if his clothing line succeeds, he’ll leave Atlanta and will start living in the Big Apple.  But we’re guessing he’s somewhere in between, right now, or maybe even reconsidering New York for Toronto.  Aside from all the financial trouble stuff, we have to say that we actually love Benjamin Bixby’s preppy, late 1930′s look.  Here are some of Benjamin Bixby’s Spring / Summer 2009 collection.

We say the line is very illustrative, fun and very unexpected.  And we are excited for the men’s paperboy hats. We also love the classic suspenders!

The line will feature 70 pieces and is expected to launch at Barney’s in the fall. Andre sketched the designs himself and is funding the project with his own money. It seems to me that Mr. 3000, unlike many other celebrities, is not doing this for the money, but because he has a real love of fashion. The clothes will have a “rebel-gentleman” style, similar to Andre’s own. Andre 3000 definitely has an interesting and unique style, so I am excited to see what his clothing line will look like.  Do you think Andre’s line will be successful?
