Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have served as style icons for women, ranging in ages two, to 92, since their breakout role as Michelle Tanner in Full House. They successfully dominated the tween and teen set with their groundbreaking collaboration with Wal-Mart stores nationwide, long before it was en vogue to team up with affordable retailers. The Olsen twins paved the way for the likes of Max Azria, Vera Wang, Lauren Conrad and Miley Cyrus to design accessible fashion for the masses, all with their signature bohemian twist. And now, it looks like they’re ready to dominate the charitable shoe industry, with their latest collaboration with wildly popular Toms Shoes.

Toms broke onto the shoe scene with their revolutionary One for One campaign, vowing to donate one pair of shoes to a needy child for every single pair of Toms sold. What began as an underground style movement has seeped into the celebrity set – and now, comfortable, affordable Toms can be seen on the feet of some of the world’s biggest stars. We weren’t surprised to hear that Mary-Kate and Ashley were interested in somehow participating in the One for One campaign, and now we’ve finally seen promotional shots of their exclusive designs for Toms.

Following the success of their ultra-luxurious The Row clothing line, we were expecting the Olsens to design something luxe and opulent for the generally plain-Jane shoe company – and the petite twins certainly delivered. The Cashmere Collection by Mary-Kate and Ashley features Toms signature style in black, gray and plaid-patterned Italian wool and cashmere. The extravagant footwear will retail at prices ranging from $140 to $150, and Toms will donate an equally lavish pair to a child in need.

Even though we think the price point is slightly high for an everyday flat, we’re considering picking up a pair for ourselves come fall. We can’t resist fashion with a charitable tie (pun intended) – so we’re curious to check out this new celebrity collaboration. What do you think of Mary-Kate and Ashley’s latest project?

As part of their label Elizabeth and James, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen will begin to sell optical frames. The collection, which will include a total of 13 styles of frames, will be available in select stores this June. So far, we know that they will be sold in New York at Devonshire Optical and in Los Angeles at Dan Deutsch Optical Outloook. Of course, if the frames become the new hot item in the world of geek chic, then we bet they will show up in many other stores as well.

And “geek chic” is an important word for this collection. The Olsen Twins have not shied away from thick black frames and thoroughly bookish silhouettes. There is one pair of round frames that is positively Harry Potter-esque. The frames, all of which are named after streets in New York City, will retail from $155 to $265 in price.

In a recent release, Ashley Olsen said, “The design aesthetic in the optical collection is a true reflection of ‘Elizabeth and James’ essence.” She went on to describe the new collection of optical frames as having a “…classic feel with a modern sensibility.” We will, of course, be interested to see if optical frames continue to be a part of the collection and, if so, how they evolve in terms of design.

Many people are familiar with the scientific theory that the universe is expanding. Well, in one little corner of the fashion universe, expansion is much more than a theory. The business empire that is owned and run by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen now has a new territory. In addition to their lines, The Row and Elizabeth and James, the twin actresses now have StyleMint.com. It has been reported that the sisters teamed up with BeachMint to create this new site which is intended to function like a virtual personal stylist.

Of course we love fashion stylists and what they do. (We bow at the feet of Queen Rachel Zoe!) But, let’s face it, not all fashionistas can afford to work with personal stylists. In response to this truth, online shopping technology has been created to help shoppers find the perfect duds. This technology is central to the shopping experience at StyleMint.com. In a recent press release, Ashley Olsen said, “Online commerce is the perfect medium for us to create a new brand that is as much about the clothing as it is about the customer experience.” Mart Kate Olsen added that “With StyleMint.com, Ashley and I have created an online experience reflecting our love of style and allowing us to engage with our customers directly, which is an inspiring new way for us to think and create as designers.”

For now, the twins are starting small, focusing on a beloved garment: the t-shirt. StyleMint.com’s debut features a line of t-shirts. Going forward, the site will offer more items along with reports on recent trends and even videos on how to wear certain items.

The Olsen twins are not the only members of Hollywood to team up with BeachMint. In fact, Kate Bosworth also works with BeachMint on her line of accessories which is called JewelMint.

But fortunately for us, they definitely did not disappoint at the March 16th announcement of the 2011 CFDA Fashion Awards. The prestigious fashion industry event was held at Diane von Furstenberg’s posh studio in New York City – and Mary-Kate and Ashley received a nomination for the New Talent Award. We’re thrilled that this creative design duo is finally making progress in the fashion world outside of their tween fans – and we’re even more ecstatic over the outfits they wore to the announcement celebration.

We weren’t surprised to see Mary-Kaye opt for a black suit – she is the more “moody” sister, after all. But this time, her black jacket was perfectly tailored to her petite frame – and we love the bracelet-length cuffs. She even added a pop of color with her salmon-hued Prada clutch. Simple Louis Vuitton strappy sandals completed her unusually polished look. Ashley wore an equally stylish whisper pale pink Pre-Fall suit by The Row. The shade read almost white on camera, and she completed her look to perfection with embellished gold Manolo Blahnik pumps.

We’re totally in love with both of these looks separately – but think they look even better together. The sisters are like a contrasting pair of designer geniuses! Let’s just hope that these two girls will keep up the fashionable work in the future!

While Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have a number of clothing lines, this new foray into menswear will occur under the umbrella of their most exclusive collection, The Row. The womenswear section of ths irreverant, urban collection has been a hit and has been worn by a number of stylish celebs including, but not limited to, Julianne Moore, one of our favorite red heads in Hollywood.

Just like the womenswear lines, the new menswear line of clothing for The Row is rather simple, but with a strong eye for design and silhouette. Also, just like the womenswear line, these garments are among the priciest pieces that the Olsen Twins have designed. There is a jacket in the line, for example, that is called the “Leon Jacket” which is priced at $1090. A t-shirt which is called the “Hunt Top” retails for a cool $275.

This new line from The Row, which is set to debut in the spring of this year is largely populated by black, heather grey, and navy blue. We will be interested to hear reviews of this line. At a simple glance, a number of the pieces in this collection seem to have the twins at much less expensive chain retailers such as The Gap and even Old Navy. But if the fits are just perfect and the fabrics are to die for, then fashionable men may be willing to splurge.

Everyone knows about Mary-Kate and Ashley, the twins who rose to stardom while they were still in diapers on the television show Full House. But now there is a third Olsen on the scene: Elizabeth. Although she is three years younger than her twin older sisters, she could easily pass for an identical triplet. This is especially apparent in the photographs that she took with Mark Abrahams for V Magazine. She’s got the same wide eyes and the same porcelain skin. It’s actually hard to imagine that these aren’t photographs of a slightly younger Ashley or Mark-Kate. While she has previously differentiated herself with brunette locks, these new photographs show her with much fairer hair.
While this young lady may have grown up in the shadow of her twin sisters’ uber-stardom, it seems that she may be making a name and a style image of her own. She was recently nominated as the “New Ingenue” by actor Chance Crawford and has movies that are scheduled to come out in 2011 and 2012. The young Ms. Olsen had some experience appearing in productions that featured her older sisters, but since then she has attended Moscow’s Art Theatre School and seems to be making her own way.
Ms. Olsen also seems to be making her own way in terms of her style. While Mary-Kate and Ashley have literally branded their own style, it seems that Ms. Olsen may be breaking a bit with the looks that her sisters have established. The older twins are known for on-trend, urban, irreverent looks. But it seems that the younger sister is drawn to looks that are less trend-oriented and more ethereal. It will be interesting to watch this new “ingenue” and to follow her personal style. One has to wonder if she will begin a new fashion empire of her own.

Elizabeth and James, just one of the clothing lines under the direction and ownership of Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, has released a Spring look book. The looks are decidedly French and range from feminine to bohemian. Marking this new line are nautical stripes, nude tones, voluminous coats and dresses, and shorts galore. Many of the images from the new look book also include sunglasses, a new addition to the Elizabeth and James line.

One of the most dramatic elements of this new Spring line is the duster coat. In the upper body of the garment the lapels are rather relaxed. Down near the knees and extending to the ankles, however, are eyelets which create a very feminine look. This garment is basically a pillar of fabric which is marked with a few understated, genius details.

A bit surprising is look number 10 from the Spring look book. This look includes an ivory pleated mini skirt that is fresh, and could be a good addition to many wardrobes. The powder pink pullover that it is styled with, however, seems to be a mistake. Even on the model it looks slouchy, boxy, and ill-fitting. The Olsen twins are known for their ability to glam up the slouch look, but they seem to have failed in this sweater.

Lovely slouchiness can be found, however, in the Malcolm shirt from look number 22, the Blair top from look number 12, and the Trish dress from look number 8. The Salvia dress is an especially lovely example of feminine slouchiness. This breathy dress with a drop waist is fabricated in a lovely tone that refuses to decide if it is nude or pink.

For the most part, the new Elizabeth and James line seems to be full of hits. There are just a few misses. The Folsom glasses, for example, look as though they are a misplaced element from a Harry Potter costume.

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are on top of everything fashionable these days, not just from their previous line, Elizabeth and James, but also with their JC Penney exclusive juniors line, Olsenboye.  Just in time for back-to-school shopping, Olsenboye recently announced their upcoming Fall 2010 Collection.  The teaser video was shot in London, and we can say they look fabulous!  Here are some stills from the vid:

Olsenboye’s London-based models, Esme, Alice and Maria, show their hometown to Olsenboye’s fans through movies, London-inspired music, blog posts and super fun pictures. Various locations became the backdrop of the promotional teaser video i.e. Trafalgar Square, one of the world’s most famous landmark full of exciting art which also celebrated Olsenboye’s inspirations.

After denim line “Free Spirit”, contemporary line “Elizabeth and James” and high-end line “The Row”, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are expanding their fashion wings once again. This time, they inked up a sweet deal with J.C. Penney Co. Inc. to launch Olsenboye, a junior brand that will be J.C. Penney’s exclusive.

The name Olsenboye came from the Olsens’ ancestral name, and don’t get fooled by the ancient air, the Olsenboye collection includes denim, bottoms, tops, dresses, skirts, shorts, jackets, handbags and shoes. From the last WWD update, Olsenboye has signed shoe designer Steve Madden to be the designer of the shoe line. The Olsenboye line will retail from $20 to $50. It’s one of those brands you’ll have to mix and guess what, it’s good news for all girls of all sizes: Olsenboye comes in a wide size range, from size 0 to size 15. Liz Sweney, Penney’s executive vice president and general merchandise manager of women’s stated:

“It’s really important that Olsenboye serves lots of girls. It’s not just about girls size zero or one.”

Meanwhile, Ashley Olsen also expressed her delight in the new line:

“Mary-Kate and I watch current trends and see our partnership with J.C. Penney as an opportunity to add something unique to the marketplace, especially in the current retail climate. Olsenboye is an extension of the Dualstar brand and we feel this collaboration complements and strengthens our business portfolio, delivering trend-based fashion at affordable prices.”

So there you have it: affordable, trendy, stylish and comes in a wide range of sizes. What more could you want from a celebrity clothing line?
