Miley Cyrus is known for starring as the principal character Miley Stewart
aka Hannah Montana in the hit Disney television series “Hannah Montana”.

Her full name is Destiny Hope Cyrus. She smiled so much as a baby, her
family nicknamed her “Smiley” which was later shortened to “Miley”.

Miley is the daughter of Leticia Cyrus and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus,
who is best known for his hit single “Achy Breaky Heart”. At 12 years old
Miley became a sensation after Hannah Montana debuted on the Disney Channel
in March 2006.

Following the success of the show, Miley’s singing career was launched in
October 2006 with a Hannah Montana soundtrack CD in which she sang eight
songs. It debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, and Miley has since released
three albums and gone on two worldwide tours.

Philanthropy is a major interest of Miley and her family. She gave $1
million to Youth Service America on her 16th birthday. Other charities that
have benefitted from Miley’s generosity are City of Hope and Stand Up to
Cancer. She is also actively involved in Disney’s Friends for Change, a
non-profit focused on encouraging environmentally-friendly action.

Disney launched a Hannah Montana clothing line in summer 2007, for which
Miley Cyrus has herself designed pieces for the collection.

The new apparel and accessories collections arrived exclusively at Wal-Mart stores throughout Canada in August. The first collections are named “Free to Be Me” and “Mystic Chic,” and are already selling well. The new line also includes underwear, sleepwear sets, fragrance cologne and shimmer stick, games, backpacks and stationery items such as posters and greeting cards.

The store’s name and inspiration comes from Martin and Osa Johnson, a globetrotting husband and wife team from Kansas who explored Africa and the South Pacific Islands, chronicling their travels in photographs and diaries.

Martin Johnson died in the crash of a Western Air Express Boeing 247 commercial flight near Newhall, California in 1937. Osa died in New York City of a heart attack in 1953. American Eagle launched Martin + Osa, a new line of stores named after Martin and Osa Johnson, in 2006.
