While Heidi Klum and her new man, Martin Kirsten, are nowhere near planning to have babies (that we know of), the supermodel and Project Runway star is looking forward for her “Truly Scrumptious by Heidi Klum Baby Collection” to be a hit and rake in big sales.
Klum partnered up with the Babies ‘R’ Us division of toy retailer Toys ‘R’ Us. The products are also available at babiesrus.com. Klum told WWD that she’s doing ‘everything’ when it comes to babies nursery:
“I made beds, curtains, blankets, washcloths, bath toys, wall decals, lamps, rugs, hampers, stuffed animals, security blankets, and night lights. If you think about the nursery, I’m doing everything.”
Not just making babies comfortable, Klum also sets her sights high on stylish tots by releasing an apparel line within the Truly Scrumptious brand.
“I tackle everything from shoes, socks, underwear and pajamas to dresses, jeans, leggings and sweaters.”
What about strollers, high chairs and car seats? Yep, she got those in the bag, too. Klum said:
“I’ve been working on Truly Scrumptious designs for a year.”
Being a mother of four, Klum understands every parent’s needs from clothing to accessories. She became very involved in setting up the brand, and worked alongside the big Babies ‘R’ Us design team, who made her visions come to reality.
“I do a lot of the legwork. I do draw things. They basically fulfill my ideas. The original design idea comes from me. I am not the person that goes to the manufacturer.”
Fashion elements that involve colors and fabrics are nothing new to Klum, who has a strong background in the industry. However, in creating strollers, it wasn’t her fashion background that came into play. It was the much too familiar mommyhood.
“For me, creating a stroller was very important. I wanted to make it easy for mom or dad to fold. Most strollers you need two hands to collapse, so what do you do with your baby? With mine, you can still hold a baby with one hand, and put the stroller together or collapse it.”
