As untouchable as the Hollywood elite may seem, the truth is that they’re just like us in plenty of ways. Sure, unlike us, most A-listers send assistants to do their grocery shopping and have standing weekly appointments with their acupuncturists. But when it comes to flattering fashion, some of our favorite stylish stars have the exact same habits we have.

For example, we cannot stop reaching for our favorite little black dress from New York & Company. In fact, we just checked – and nearly our entire wardrobe is from that store! It’s affordable – and the silhouettes work for us, plain and simple. And even though we criticize celebs for becoming too predictable (just like us,) it’s easy to reach for the same designer label over and over again when we find something that consistently works. To that end, it looks like Jennifer Hudson has found her own personal New York & Company with Victoria Beckham’s posh label – because she keeps reaching for the celebrity designer’s curve-hugging pieces for big appearances.

At the Second Annual Mary J. Blige Honors Concert in New York City on Sunday, May 1st, Jennifer arrived on the red carpet in yet another Victoria Beckham dress. This time, it was a salmon-hued creation with a sophisticated asymmetrical neckline. And even though we’d love to see Jennifer dress outside the box for once, we have to admit that we are totally digging this chic (yet safe) look. As usual, Jennifer nailed her ensemble – right down to her black booties, so keep reading to discover why we think it’s OK to stay within your comfort zone. Since Jennifer’s outstanding 80-pound weight loss, she’s certainly enjoyed showing off her hard-earned figure. Victoria Beckham’s designs are famous for their slim-fitting, waist-cinching silhouettes, so they’re perfect for the Oscar winner’s new shape. She won us over years ago during her American Idol run – even though she didn’t take home the coveted title. We continued to follow her life and career, and have loved Jennifer Hudson more and more with each stylish step. Who could forget her lovable turn as Carrie Bradshaw’s no-nonsense assistant in the first Sex and the City Movie? She was a perfect fit for the role. Fans watched in horror and subsequently rallied in support for Jennifer after tragic crime stuck her family, and have collectively coo’d at adorable 18-month-old son David.

Fans of the singer-turned-Oscar-winning-actress have traveled a bumpy road alongside the star, jam-packed with heavenly highs and devastating lows, so it’s no surprise that we feel equally connected to her triumphant weight loss journey. Most recently, Jennifer has been flaunting that hard-earned body everywhere from her Weight Watchers television spots to the Oprah Winfrey Show, and we admit we’re flipping over her fashion. And at the 4th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon, which took place at the Beverly Hills Hotel on February 24th, Jennifer did not disappoint. As usual, Jennifer nailed her look. We love everything about it – the spring color, the perfect fit – even Jennifer’s hair and makeup. The good news is that you don’t need an Oscar trophy on your bookshelf to look equally fabulous. All different shades of purple – from eggplant to lavender – are popping up in stores for Spring 2011. Find the one that best suits your skin tone and you’ll be as fierce as Jennifer all season!

Pair your new favorite purple piece with a great neutral shoe for a modern twist. Instead of opting for basic black or chocolate brown (which also look great with purple,) choose a nude, taupe or gray shoe.
