But now that she’s in the midst of a marital squabble against ex-husband Russell Brand, she remained high and dry despite the recent split from her beau. Katy’s fashion resilience triumphed over Russell’s decision to file a divorce that made the lovely singer lay down low for the past two weeks. We know that the high-profile split slightly changed the pop star’s mood these days, but her love for fashion has certainly prevailed.

The 26-year-old singer managed to flaunt a jovial mood as she emerged back into the limelight last week. It seemed that she enjoyed filming an Adidas commercial in Santa Barbara, California. She was spotted smiling and laughing at the set of the Adidas ad filming.

The lovely performer looked fabulous in a cute orange top and a pair of tiny purple nylon running shorts. She paired the gorgeous street style with a bright-colored jacket. The orange Adidas vest that she has slipped on also matched her cheerful aura. She finished off the sporty look with a pair of bright red running shoes and a new blue hairdo. While wearing the fluorescent work-out ensemble, she was photographed hopping on a bike, jogging around the set, and doing some powerful poses.

Meanwhile, Katy Perry’s ex-husband is reportedly ready to move on. He wants nothing more than to get some closure on the whole situation. On the other hand, Katy wants to sort things out. An insider told US Weekly: “He has agreed to meet her one last time. He wants to sort things out and finalize the divorce. But Katy says she is still in love with him and she still has hopes they might get back together.”

We consider Katy Perry as one of the most daring fashion enthusiasts. She is well known for her wacky hairstyles and eccentric outfits. For every event in Tinseltown, she knows the best way to flaunt her shapely figure by wearing cute over-the-top ensembles. Now that she’s busy promoting her perfume line, she preferred for an unusual look. The darling diva opted for a demure and stunning number at the recent launch of Meow perfume.

The 27-year-old singer discarded her wide collection of revealing stage outfits in exchange for modest clothing. Perhaps she is keen to attract attention by wearing an attire that is a far cry from her usual style. She donned a more conservative knee length pink dress with a black pussy bow neck line as she arrived at The Grove Mall inLos Angelesfor the unveiling of her latest perfume creation, Meow. Wearing the chic pale satin number, she looked glowing and dazzling. Despite the decorous appearance, she managed to show off her enviable curves at the event with the split in her skirt.

Katy kept her mode downright unfussy as she graced the festive gathering. She paired the silky frock with a pair of ornate black open toe shoes. She accessorised with sparkling fashion pieces and bobbed style blonde tresses with a hair grip holding it back on one side.

The “Fireworks” singer recently appeared on the Entertainment TV show Extra. During the promotional stint, she answered questions from the audience regarding her career and choice of hairstyle. She stated: “I know you guys want a new record, but I have to live a little so all the songs will be something worth listening to,’ she said. ‘I think that maybe I’m going to just think about enjoying Christmas and New Year’s.”

Even though Katy seemed to have ditched her outrageous fashion following her nuptials, we recently spotted her in an outfit that was so quintessentially Katy, we almost forgot about her demure phase.

On Thursday, June 30, Ms. Perry arrived on the red carpet at the Sears department store in Canada’s Toronto Eaton Center to promote her first fragrance, Purr – and she certainly dressed the part. We loved her adorable silk knit, knee-length frock and matching cardigan, all by Christian Dior, and think her Maison Michel cat ears added the purr-fect finishing touch. Even if you’re not into donning animal-inspired headpieces, we think Katy’s pretty party dress provided plenty of stylish inspiration – so keep reading for more details about her wild ensemble.

We concede that red carpet-ready cat ears aren’t for everyone, but for Katy, we think they’re quite cute. After all, her job is to bring attention to her fragrance, aptly called Purr, so it’s only appropriate that she pay homage to her own product. Her fierce feline headband even mimicked the silhouette of her adorable namesake fragrance bottle, so we think it was a pitch-perfect accessory.

As much as we adore Russell, and can’t wait to check out Arthur in theatres, we admittedly miss Katy’s red carpet appearances. She’s one celebrity who has a chameleon-like style, instantly changing from cheeky, neon-clad pop star to endlessly chic and sophisticated Oscar arm candy. Fortunately for fashionistas, our wait is over – and we finally caught a glimpse of the in-demand power couple reunited at the London premiere of Arthur. The red carpet event was held at the glamorous Cineworld 02 Arena on April 19th, and Katy chose a drop dead gorgeous Phillip Armstrong creation from his Fall 2011 line. Of course, we loved her ensemble, and we’re already plotting ways to copy her look this season.

We’ve mentioned before how hot nude dresses are this summer, and it looks like the fleshy trend is here to stay for the cooler seasons. Katy chose the perfect hue for her porcelain complexion, and the delicate color allowed her amazing figure to take center stage. In true “California Girl” fashion, Katy’s Phillip Armstrong design featured plenty of sparkly embellishment at the waistline and bust. We love this look – and encourage you to try a bold and blingy necklace or belt with a nude cocktail dress for a similar, yet subdued version of this look.

At the Los Angeles premiere of Russell’s new flick, “Tempest” on December 7, Katy wowed her fashion critics in a one-shoulder lace Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. The knot detail at the bust was super flattering, and the whisper-pale lavender (almost ivory) hue was a cute nod to her newlywed status. To let her Saab shine, Katy kept her hair and accessories simple and classic. Her bejeweled silver clutch and bangle bracelets didn’t compete with her sparkly new wedding band – and her fleshy Elie Saab platform sandals kept things just funky enough to remind us that it was in fact, Katy Perry turning heads on the red carpet.

Katy’s nails – normally adorned with blindingly metallic Minx decals – or even encrusted in candy bits – were demure and sweet in a natural French manicure – and her center parted, glossy black locks looked effortlessly beautiful. Mimicking her look for your next event is easy to do. Remember that when you have one knockout piece – in Katy’s case, her couture gown – it’s important to keep everything else muted enough to let it stand out. And when in doubt about hair or makeup, keep things natural and pretty.

The Good:

Emma Stone – though her dress doesn’t seem like anything fancy, that is precisely why I love this look so much. Emilio Pucci’s black leather mini dress looks great in contrast with Emma’s fair skin tone and her small frame. Bold, dark eyeliner, clean light look on the rest of the face,  a pop of color with her ring and clutch, black pumps and a no-frills hair style round out this simple rocker chic look.

Taylor Swift - I am basically ALWAYS a fan of Taylor’s award show looks. The Dolce and Gabana cream, strapless that she donned during her performance of one of her newest songs (from her soon-to-be-released album) was, to me, very classic Hollywood. Pair the simple and slightly ballerina-esque  frock with her signature red lips and sophisticated 40′s inspired hairstyle, Swift looked less like a country-pop princess and more like the movie startlets of old (think Greta Garbo, Lauren Bacall, and Ava Gardner).

Ashley Greene -Besides the fact that I think Ashley Greene is always stunning, this dress was perfect for this occasion, in my eyes. Lace is really big right now and will continue to be going into F/W 2010 and this Giambattista Valli strapless mini does it right! The split black and white look is very elegant, but the ruffle on the skirt and the length keep it young, fresh and appropriate for an MTV event.  Also, I love that she doesn’t make this look too busy with unnecessary jewelry, heavy make-up or a dramatic hairstyle.

Nicki Minaj - I think one of the main reasons I love this look is because it is such a leap from the Jetson’s-themed get up she wore during her performance with Will.I.Am. It is a vest and trousers pairing by Lura Starr, but it looks like a jumper – another big trend and one of my favorites. Cream is going to be one of F/W’s biggest staple colors and it looks fantastic with her skin tone and it fits her like a dream. Though it is a relatively simple outfit, Nicki’s statement jewelry (Basile and Pape), and hot pink hair and lips take this look to award show status.

Kanye West – If there is one thing I will always be a fan of, it is the way this man dresses. He might be pompous, but he knows fashion. His eye-popping red Peter Hildago-designed suit worn with a black v-neck, gold chains and his Louis Vuitton Don red sneakers made a bold statement against the black and white stage set up. The contrast with Pusha T and the ballerinas dressed in pale pink, made him stand out even more. It was the perfect choice for his show-stopping VMA performance.

The Bad:

Stephanie Pratt – Sometimes it just comes down to the cut of a dress and this one by Tacori that Hills’ star Stephanie Pratt wore does nothing positive for her shape.  While the coloration is very pretty, looking at her on the white carpet leaves me puzzled as to how big she might be underneath the beaded gown. It definitely makes her look awkward, her face and hair on the other hand were very pretty.

The Cast of the Jersey Shore (The Situation, JWoww, and Snooki) – The cast of the Jersey Shore is all about bringing Jersey flavor to wherever they go, and the definitely did that last night at the VMAs…however, that flavor did nothing, but leave a bad taste in my mouth. Even though I have seen them in worse, much worse, all the seemed to do put on their “best” clubwear.  While JWoww’s dress wasn’t awful, (though no where near my taste) it really was her choice in footwear that completely did this ensemble in – the tan (wooden?) bottoms on her peeptoe pumps do not fit in anywhere with the black and silver theme she had going on. As for Snooki, some people can pull off the one sleeve look and maybe she would have been able to if the print on her dress wasn’t so loud. Also, the shape of the dress wasn’t very flattering on her body type.

Hayley Williams (B.O.B duet) – I really don’t think there was anything right with what the Paramore front-woman had on during her performance with B.O.B. I didn’t get it, maybe? The cut of her blazer wasn’t flattering, neither were the shorts. The boots might be cute with the right outfit (like Rhianna’s tutu!!) and even though I am all for random pops of color, the choice in teal for her undershirt just completed the looks awkward randomness. I usually love love love Hayley and even though she looked sweet in her choice of white carpet wear (a black and blue flowered Miu Miu mini dress), this did absolutely NOTHING for me – except maybe make me frown.

Katy Perry – My opinion of Katy Perry’s outfit choices are very back and forth. Sometimes I think she is sexy and very well put together, sometimes I think she completely missed the mark. Her VMAs outfit choice is one of the latter. A lot of celebrities attempted the lace look and I feel like this one failed. It wasn’t really the flesh coloring that the majority of the dress was made out of, even though I did think it was kind of “eh”, but it was the random white “skirt” area that had me puzzled. Add to that the fact that the black floral design continued onto the skirt in the front made it seem like she just lifted up the lace and tucked the white part underneath it. Maybe if it went all the way around and was a full skirt I would like it more (maybe that’s because it would look a lot more like what Ashley Greene had on). I also didn’t understand the blue and pink in her hair, but maybe that is just the punk rock side of Ms. Perry (soon to be Mrs. Brandt) coming out.

Chelsea Handler (the red dress) – If you are hosting an awards show, especially one as “hip” as the VMAs I think you should put a lot of thought into you outfit(s) and I don’t think Chelsea Handler did. Although I didn’t think her first dress (the black halter wit the silver detailing) was bad, the red one she came out in was. It looked like a bad prom dress and the cut was not flattering. I am not a fan of dresses that have a train in the back unless it is going all the was the floor and back, like a wedding dress. However, I did think her shoes were to die for but not even those could save the outfit.

The Gaga:

Lady Gaga never ceases to amaze me with her choice costumes. Last year’s VMAs she wowed everyone on and off the stage and I think this year was no different. Her ensembles are always so talked about and public opinion is usually very split as to whether they are “good” or “bad” so I put her in her own category; I feel it is very fitting since she seems to always been in a category all her own.

Alexander McQueen – The late, great Alexander McQueen was a very avant-garde visionary and beloved designer. Gaga was the perfect choice to step out in one of his creations from his last collections. The richness of the reds and golds were very reminiscent of renaissance royalty with a futuristic, Gaga twist. The lobster claw, extreme ballerina-inspired pumps are other worldly footwear that our momma monster has made her own. Her choice of hairstyle and head-wear always compliments her look, and those gold feather did just that.

Armani - Even Gaga described herself as “fashion roadkill” because she moved so slow in her second outfit. The black leather Giorgio Armani designed gown and spiked head piece were domineering, yet elegant. Continuing with the look of royalty, the draping action of this dress mixed with the blue/pink/silver coloring of her hair made her look like the queen of another universe; which I wouldn’t at all be surprised to find out she is!

Franc Fernandez – Of course, her last outfit was going to be her most outrageous. The meat dress. And yes, according to designer Franc Fernandez, it was made with “real meat” from his family’s butcher shop. Complete with platform meat booties, a meat hat, and meat purse (which she couldn’t believe she asked Cher to hold) this get up will forever be in the books of VMA fashion. From the fab bunch, we have Carrie Underwood leading the way with her golden sparkly dress.

While we love Jennifer Hudson’s red carpet dress, we also had our eyes set on her stagewear.  She looked amazing!

British star, Estelle, rocked a sparkly number which complemented Kanye’s… err… blazer.  Okay, now we have a question: could it be Estelle has serious insecurity issues about her hips?  She keeps on wearing dresses with fake hips!  Or was it Kanye’s idea?  We’ll never know.  Note to Yeezy: while we love your boldness, glittery stuff is really girls’ domain.

Fantasia looked fantastic with her embellished dress.  We’re just not really feelin’ the shoes.

We absolutely love Gwyneth Paltrow’s metallic strapless mini dress!  And for the dress’ sake, we’ll forget her ‘British’ word-drop: “…the utterly brilliant Radiohead”.  Why don’t we just leave the British thing to Madonna for now.

To tell you the truth, we’re kinda down and out with celebrities wearing those Herve Leger bandage dress.  But Tiny rocked the metallic version this time.  She grew a sense of style!  We’re not really with TI this time, ‘coz we prefer his undone tuxedo look when he performed with the “Rap Pack” onstage.

Paula Abdul tried to get on board the metallic glam trend, but she boarded the fashion trainwreck instead.  Nice try, Paula.

And so did Katy Perry, who puts rhinestones on her ‘fruity’ getup.  Thank God it’s just for show.  She actually looked much better on the red carpet.
