British designer Jenny Packham has been experiencing quite a boost thanks to the newly minted Duchess of Cambridge jet setting around the globe in her designs. We can’t complain, though, because we adore her simple and chic creations, and often think she’s one of the most underrated dress designers today. Now that her pretty day dresses have been splashed across the front page of every style section in the world, it looks like Hollywood A-listers are finally starting to give Jenny Packham the exposure she deserves. At the 18th Annual ESPY Awards, held this year at LA’s famed Nokia Theater on Wednesday, July 13th, bronze beauty Kerry Washington wore a Jenny Packham minidress, straight off the designer’s Fall 2011 runway. We are completely in love with Kerry’s look – right down to her pitch-perfect smoky eyes and tight, high bun. Kerry’s flawless figure would look amazing in anything, but we think her Packham pick, which featured a high neck, trendy dolman-style long sleeves and an open back, was the perfect choice for the fun and flirty ESPYs. Thanks to the sparkly beaded embellishments throughout the dress, Kerry positively glittered when she took the stage to present one of the evening’s most coveted awards, Best Male Athlete.

We adored all of Kerry’s coordinating accessories, which included a silver clutch by Salvatore Ferragamo, jewels by H. Stern and asymmetrical metallic platform pumps by Gio Diev. As much as we love mixing metallics, Kerry’s monochromatic silver ensemble looked totally fresh and modern.

If you love Kerry’s sleek bun and pewter smoky eyes, you’re in luck. Her trendy beauty is a snap to recreate at home, with the right products and a little practice. After blow-drying locks to create plenty of texture, hike hair into a high ponytail. Wind the length into a long coil before wrapping it around the base of the ponytail, securing with bobby pins each time you twist hair. Finish your star look with a swipe of shimmery cream shadow and plenty of black mascara for a red carpet-worthy look!

Each year, our fashion palates salivate in anticipation of the iconic Time 100 Gala, which honors the world’s top 100 most influential people, according to the news glossy. The event is exciting for current events junkies, because it spans all corners of entertainment, politics, media and money. For example, this year honored a few stars of Fox’s musical hit, Glee, alongside members of international press and politics.

But for lovers of fashion and style, the special event is worth following simply for the spectacular dresses and shoes. And at this year’s party – held at the Lincoln Center in New York City on Tuesday, April 26th – the stars certainly did not disappoint. We’d be hard pressed to choose a favorite, since everyone dressed in his or her absolute black tie best for the occasion, but Kerry Washington certainly topped our list in her gorgeous Catherine Malandrino design. From the refreshing and unexpected color palate, to her pitch-perfect accessories, Kerry nailed her look from top to bottom.

We love seeing prints on the red carpet, especially when they come in the season’s prettiest colors. Too many stars play it safe in black gowns or other simple solid colors, but Kerry opted for saturated jewel tones of fuchsia, purple and gold. For starters, the watercolor look of her Malandrino gown is right on trend for Spring 2011, but the hues are deep enough to keep things formal. The print really shines against Kerry’s gorgeous skin tone, and we encourage anyone with a similar complexion to experiment with rich hues this season. Catherine Malandrino knows exactly how to fit and flatter a feminine shape, and this particular design fits the bill. The cap sleeves and banded waistline highlight Kerry’s knockout body, so look for similar details in your own wardrobe.
