Lady Gaga Covers March Vogue

It’s common knowledge in the fashion world that, when you can land the cover of American Vogue, you’ve officially “made it” in the industry. And if that’s true, who would have thought we’d see the day when Lady Gaga – proud wearer of the infamous dress-o’-meat, would ever grace the cover of the world’s biggest name in fashion. But that day has arrived, and so have the leaked promotional images from Vogue of their March cover girl, in all of her pink-haired glory. In true Gaga fashion, the pop songstress is sporting a cotton candy-colored wig – but to make her look cover-worthy, she’s sporting an up-and-coming designer, who even Karl Lagerfeld himself admires. Read on for more information about the shoot, and exactly what Gaga is wearing on the cover.

As outrageous as Gaga’s fashion sense tends to be, it seems only fitting that the “Bad Romance” crooner would grace the cover of Vogue’s annual “Power Issue.” After all, this is one Lady in Hollywood who refuses to conform to anyone else’s idea of what’s beautiful. She’s unabashedly unapologetic about her wild style – and that’s one of the things we love most about Gaga. When asked what she wears on her days off, she’s gone on the record to say she dresses like Lady Gaga all the time. Honestly, we can’t say we believe she goes to the butcher to shop around for lazy Sunday lounge clothes, but we admire her boldness in the media.

On her March Vogue cover, Gaga is in true form, rocking a baby pink bob like no one in the industry can. Her frothy, filmy cream-colored frock is apparently by Haider Ackermann, the designer Karl Lagerfeld has said wishes would take over Chanel when his reign finally ends. In fashion, that’s just about the highest compliment you can receive – and we’re not surprised Lady Gaga chose such a powerful fashion force.

The photos were shot by famed photographer Mario Testino – and the artistry and beauty oozes from the images. Even though we’re not daring enough to pull off Gaga style, we adore these cover images and think she was a great choice to cover the “Power Issue.” What do you think of these photos? Will you be picking up a copy when the issue hits newsstands this month?

Gaga Goes Girly with New Fragrance

You read that right. Everyone’s favorite outrageous fashion risk-taker and wearer of raw beef, Lady Gaga, recently announced her collaboration with bath and body product and fragrance giant, Coty. The deal, which was reportedly inked in the fall, will include a series of Gaga-approved fragrances, but the first version isn’t hitting shelves until Spring 2012. Coty is a powerhouse in the perfume business, and has been the driving force behind such wildly popular fragrance brands like Calvin Klein, Adidas, Vera Wang and Sarah Jessica Parker. With a high profile client list under its belt, we were initially shocked Lady Gaga chose such a mainstream perfumer with a reputation for creating sophisticated, feminine and sweet scents. In fact, we were downright shocked that she didn’t go to her local butcher to hammer out a fragrance deal!

But just as we were worried Ms. G was about to go all mainstream and girly on us, news broke that she actually wants her first perfume to have notes that mimic human blood. So it’s official – the Lady’s perfume won’t smell anything remotely like Vera Wang’s or SJP’s – which, by the way, were all knockout successes in the industry. We have a feeling that the Gaga scent might even be a little scary – maybe perfect for Halloween!

Vera Wang’s “Sheer Veil” features dainty floral notes that are perfect for a blushing bride on her wedding day, while SJP’s “Lovely” smells exactly as its name suggests. Male fragrances from Coty like Adidas “Sport” and Calvin Klein’s “CK One” have cemented their rightful place in the classic fragrance hall of fame, with their strapping yet sexy notes.

Lady Gaga has also mentioned she’s interested in creating unisex fragrances, and with inspiration like human semen and blood, we think there’s a chance that it may be unisexually unappealing. But we’ll refrain judgment until her first scent hits shelves. Who knows? Bodily-fluid aromas might just blend well with top notes of lavender and vanilla, two of Coty’s signatures. Will you be checking out these perfumes when they become available?

Lady (Gaga) in Mourning?

We can’t believe we’re actually saying this – and we’re pretty sure the stylish powers that be will revoke our fashion expert cards and permanently erase our names from the record books, but Lady Gaga looked pretty and polished at the recent Las Vegas Consumer Electronics show! Read on for more photos and the details about her shockingly conservative ensemble.

The Consumer Electronics Show is a giant convention of everything new in the world of technology for the upcoming year. It’s neat because, unlike most other industry trade shows, everyday customers are encouraged to attend, try new gadgets – and even purchase certain not-yet-released items. We’re still not exactly sure why Lady Gaga was making the rounds at the show – maybe she has a remote controlled dress planned for the Grammys? – but whatever the reason, our jaws dropped when we caught the photos.

Her floor-length, solid black Sally LaPointe dress had a business-conservative vibe, and looked more like something Michelle Obama would wear to a political dinner, than something our favorite meat-wearing fashionista would choose for a trade show. In fact, the dress’s cinched waist and elbow-length sleeves drew attention to the fact that Gaga actually has a gorgeous and feminine shape – something we’d never noticed before, thanks to her tendency to pile on crazy (and sometimes edible!) accessories.

Before we gush anymore about the dress, can we take a moment to discuss the widow-esque black veil? Of course, it’s a little “Halloween costume chic,” but without at least one head-scratching accessory, we might not have even known that this was the “Bad Romance” singer, after all!

This look just shows us all that sometimes, even the most outrageous fashion risk taker looks best in a little (or long) black dress. We’d never expect something so pretty from Lady Gaga, but she looked hot! We are officially holding judgment on her style until we see more flattering fashion choices. The dress was jet black, but you can officially color us surprised!
