Bono and Ali Hewson For Louis Vuitton’s “Core Values” Campaign
What happens after you’re a world-famous music mega-star and own a clothing line? In most cases, you’ll be living the life of luxury, being a philanthropist and nothing much happens afterwards. But in Bono’s case, it’s a different story. The U2 front man is tapped by Louis Vuitton for its latest “Core Values” ad campaign which featured him and his wife, Ali Hewson.
And guess what, LV even let Bono and Ali wear their own label “Edun”, the ethical clothing brand they founded in 2005 to encourage trade with Africa. This is the first time LV features a brand other than its own for its campaign. Of course the design house has taken 49 percent stake of Edun last year, which resulted in the mash-up campaign. Ali Hewson even totes a handbag co-designed by Edun and Vuitton, plus a special charm which is the first made-in-Africa product for LV.
The campaign isn’t the only thing happening between Edun and Louis Vuitton, in an event during Paris Fashion Week, the two brands will unveil Africa Rising, a temporary exhibition of contemporary African art, and a showcase for the campaign, plus Edun’s spring collection.
The campaign was shot by famed photographer, Annie Leibovitz and portrays the signature travel-themed ads used by Vuitton. Moreover, Edun’s presence in the campaign would give the brand international exposure and awareness of its mission to eradicate poverty through sustainable enterprise in Africa.
