Elizabeth and James Menswear Launched!
The Olsen twins, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, finally launched menswear line for their Elizabeth and James label. The line is more contemporary compared to their upscale label: The Row. As the name Elizabeth and James came from the twins’ other siblings, Ashley Olsen have predicted the emergence of this menswear line from long ago: “We knew eventually there would be a guy, a James. In men’s(wear), it’s more about balancing uptown and downtown.”
“That’s not literal. It’s just a reference to fabrics and the risks people are willing to take in the way they dress,” said Mary Kate, referring to their additional inspiration from “Oliver Twist” and Peter Pan’s Lost Boys.
To us, the Elizabeth and James collection for men looks effortlessly stylish. It’s like seeing the average guy throws on whatever he has in his ‘clean clothes’ pile and manages to look like those rugged-looking movie stars on their day out. Honestly, we can see Robert Pattinson or Chace Crawford be the face of Elizabeth and James for men. The line is laid back, unpretentious and… very ’shy guy next door’. And that’s why we like it. Speaking of which, here’s something we like from the women’s line of Elizabeth and James.
The Elizabeth and James cut out blazer in khaki ($395.00) is a true “Elizabeth”. Which brings us to this question: do you agree with Ashley Olsen that Elizabeth and James finally found the “James” part?
