The next big trends in engagement rings have just been defined. We all love Kate Middleton’s gorgeous sapphire that previously belonged to Princess Diana, but there is new bling to ogle over. The two new stunners belong to Reese Witherspoon and LeAnn Rimes. With Reese’s rock weighing in at four carats and LeAnn’s rock tipping the scales at five carats, not many brides will be able to wear exact replicas. And these figures don’t even account for smaller accent stones. It is likely, however, that many fashionable brides-to-be will be hinting after rings that are similar in silhouette. Of course, there will be others that wear replicas similar in size but made of less precious material such as cubic zirconia.

Ms. Witherspoon, who is now engaged to Hollywood agent Jim Toth, is wearing a ring that features an Ashoka which is set on a band made of platinum and pave diamonds. The rectangular center stone is incredibly elegant. The thin, delicate band in which the stone is set helps to visually underline the sheer size of the diamond.

Ms. Rimes, who is engaged to actor Eddie Cibrian, is now wearing a gorgeous ring with an oval center stone. This five carat sparkler, like Ms. Witherspooon’s ring, also features pave diamonds. Rose cut diamonds are set in rose fleur de lis that are set in the ring at Ms. Rimes’ express request. Sources indicate that, other than her request for fleur de lis, the design of this custom ring was entirely overseen by her fiance.
While these rings are very unique in their own right, they do have a few things in common. They both harken back to antique silhouettes and designs, which are very much in style right now. With two of the most beloved blondes in Hollywood wearing them, this retro trend is sure to persist.
