Helping Africa With DEF Green Malachite Bracelets From Simmons Jewelry Co.

Today we have a news and a really good news for ya.

First, the news.

We always love it whenever there’s a good cause with a great sense of style attached.  Russell Simmons, the hip hop mogul who owns the famous Phat Farm clothing company, as well as other brands like Argyle Culture and Def Jam University, had been doing stylish good deeds that we might not be aware of.  Under his jewelry line, named Simmons Jewelry, Russell launched the Malachite Bead and Rough Diamond DEF Stretch Bracelet a while ago.

Now you might ask: What good deed is this little gorgeous green bracelet is for?

Well, first of all, DEF stands for Diamond Empowerment Fund.  The nonprofit DEF, founded last year by Russell Simmons, emphasizes the need for giving a hand up, not a handout. Monies raised by DEFthrough the sale of its Green Bracelet, an elastic malachite bead bracelet with a rough-diamond charm, is intended to provide quality education to needy students in diamond-producing nations in Africa.

This green DEF Malachite bead bracelet have raised a great amount of money too for the cause.  In January this year, Simmons Jewelry Co. presented DEF with a $311,535 worth of donation to DEF from the sale of these Green Bracelets. Russell Simmons had family in mind to promote this do-good piece of jewelry, who else but his lovely niece, Angela Simmons, who’s been wearing the green beads day in day out.

Look at that green beads.  They stand out from all the other jewelries.  However, it’s not only Angela Simmons who wears them.  Uncle Russell branched out of the family and got the rest of the fab peeps out there to support the cause.

Gorgeous Penelope Cruz is in.

The model / diva, Naomi Campbell, is also in and we say that bracelet completed her metallic snakeskin jacket. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!

What’s amazing about the beads is: they don’t just attract women, they also attract men and we’re serious when we say this: they rock it good.  Just take a look at our heartthrob, TI.

And our former president, Mr. Bill Clinton.  Who says you can’t wear a bracelet to match your suit?

Now we got the really good news for ya.

The Malachite Bead and Rough Diamond DEF Stretch Bracelet is available for purchase at the HSN Website.  It’s retailed for $125, and when you get it, you’re doing good to many kids in diamond-producing countries in Africa.  We guess Russell Simmons have started a new trend: wear something that makes you look good and feel good!

Afterall, the saying is right:  big things come in small packages.
