Lisa Loeb is famous for a few things. One of those things is her song “Stay (I Missed You)” which got her career rolling in 1994. It was also included on the soundtrack for the Generation X hit movie “Reaily Bites.” The other thing that Lisa Loeb is famous for is wearing glasses. Now the songstress has launched an eyewear line all of which seems to be true to Loeb’s own aesthetic. The frames are all plastic and many of them are decidedly cat-eye in their shape.
Another fun fact about this line of eyewear is that each style is named after one of Loeb’s songs. “Hello Lisa,” for example, is a fun squarish frame that comes in solid tortoise shell as well as color pairings. In the “chocolate/cream” paring, for example, the exterior of the glasses is a rich brown color while the interior is ivory. The interior ivory tone has some variations in its saturation and hue – a rather nice touch. The same is true for the “cherry/cream” paring. As with the brown color, the red in this design is rich and consistent.
Some of the styles in Loeb’s new eyewear collection are incredibly whimsical and girly. “Firecracker,” for example, has flower cutouts in the arms of the glasses. As with the “Hello Lisa” style, this design has interior and exterior colors. The exterior layer of colored plastic is cut away to reveal the interior color, creating the cutaway look. To make this look even a bit girlier, the centers of these flowers are embellished with rhinestones.
Many of the colors in this line of eyewear are food-inspired. In addition to those noted above, there are also glasses that are available in colors such as eggplant, lemon ice, grapefruit, plum, creamsicle, cotton candy, and wine. Many of these colors are paired with more basic shades such as black. Tortoise shell is also, of course, a big part of the collection.
