Princess Recessionista

Kate Middleton has gone on the record to say that she empathizes with the British people, who are currently enduring a major economic recession. We’ve seen the rising style star don everything from an affordable Top Shop dress to ultimate custom couture, and look equally chic at every price point. But after catching a glimpse of her ensemble at the nuptial celebration of Prince William’s first cousin, Zara Phillips, on Saturday, July 30th, we know for sure that the newly minted Duchess wasn’t just giving the press a bunch of Royal lip service. In fact, we love her even more now that we know she’s a fashion recycler – that is, a major style icon who isn’t afraid to rock an ensemble redo – even at a super high-visibility event like the second Royal Wedding of the season! If you’re one of those women who wouldn’t dare wear a dress twice, read below for details about Princess Kate’s recession-chic wardrobe, and you may think again before splurging on yet another new look!

To kick off their wedding weekend, Zara Phillips and handsome hubby-to-be, professional rugby player Mike Tindall, hosted a yacht party for their guests. Kate Middleton arrived in an amazing, emerald green Diane Von Furstenberg frock that she had worn just a few weeks earlier during her visit to California! We adored the stylish, fitted frock the first time we saw it, and we love it even more now that Kate’s proving she truly does respect the needs of so many people struggling to make ends meet.

For the actual wedding day, Kate wore another outfit redo, a beautiful and understated brocade trench dress by Jane Troughton. She wore the very same frock to the wedding of Laura Parker Bowles and Harry Lopes back in 2006, and looked amazing then, too! This time, she opted to accessorize with her seemingly ever-present nude pumps by L. K. Bennett, and a pitch-perfect oversized hat.

What do you think of Kate’s recycled style? We think she always looks gorgeous and feminine – especially in these particular looks.
