Selena Gomez 2011 MTV Movie Awards
For true style watchers, it’s not officially summer until after the MTV Movie Awards, where stylish celebs are honored with golden popcorn statues and often incorporate toilet humor into their acceptance speeches. We admit, we could live without the tawdry jokes and teen-themed b-roll video, but we tune in every year to see what our favorite Hollywood fashionistas wear to the lighthearted event. It’s always exciting to watch our favorite stars loosen up for a fun night, and since the awards always take place right on the cusp of summer vacation, they often express their carefree moods through their designer duds. This year, the event was held on Sunday, June 5 at Universal Studios Gibson Amphitheatre in University City, CA – and although we adored most of the looks, our pick for best dressed goes to Selena Gomez.
We’re not sure if Selena’s beautiful bronze glow is courtesy of her crisp white Giambattista Valli minidress or her bourgeoning puppy love with teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, but either way, she’s never looked better. The “Wizards of Waverly Place” star opted for a Spring 2011 frock, straight off the designer’s catwalk, and we think it was a perfect pick for the night. In a culture where so many young girls in entertainment try to look and act years beyond their age, it’s refreshing to see Selena looking so adorable and age-appropriate.
Even though her dress was mainly white, it also featured two of the season’s hottest hues – minty green and taupe. The colorful details added just enough interest to her ensemble, that she only needed a few accessories and simple makeup to complete her look. She added classic pointy Casadei pumps and simple gold chandelier earrings to her fresh ensemble, proving that sometimes, the simplest accessories can make a big impact.
