I’m relieved that Evan Rachel Wood is no longer stuck in her goth phase now that her engagement with Marilyn Manson has dissipated. She’s now allowing herself to rock out with an unusual and utterly unique style all her own.
I love the Preen Spring 2012 “Sonya” dress she wore to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation launch in Beverly Hills. The top is a short-sleeved black floral print against an ivory background with a mid-calf full black skirt. Evan paired her look with black bowed silk Giuseppe Zanoti peep toes. Her understated accessories were a 14k black rhodium and black diamond “Joy” mini earrings by Dana Rebecca Designs and sterling silver and diamond rings by MEUS Designs.
Although the look could run a little young, she wore her dress with breezy confidence. For me the only setback was the black headband she added to her coifed hair. It seemed to add an unnecessary teenish Gossip Girl meets Alice in Wonderland element to her overall look.
The 24-year-old actress had her big debut in the film Thirteen, however my favorite would be her turn as Veda Pierce in the mini-series Mildred Pierce with Kate Winslet. I thought she went all out playing the ambitious, narcissistic daughter with great aplomb. I know she guest starred in True Blood as Sophie-Anne Leclerq – the Vampire Queen, and she does a mean vampy look. I love the old Hollywood glam look and she falls into that style with ease.
Do you think her black headband was a suitable icing on the cake or did you think it was a tad too much?
