For those of you who may not know, I’m a big fan of Ms. Woods style. She recently wowed in a Roland Mouret ‘Edith’ Spring 2012 dress, not at a red carpet premiere – but as she was spotted leaving the Chateau Marmont hotel and restaurant in West Hollywood. It seems she was celebrating Ryan Gosling’s outstanding film Drive and with whom she co-stars with in The Ides of March.

Evan’s navy gown adorned with subtle ruffles and cheery red tulips appliqués channeled a vintage chic style, which seems to be her specialty. Her ensemble was just the right amount of retro without veering towards costume dress up territory. I loved that she managed to look sultry without being obvious.
She wore scarlet satin red pumps, nail polish, lipstick and a matching clutch that whipped the whole look together beautifully. Her kittenish platform peep toe pumps were from Salvatore Ferragamo, and her clutch was the “Lara” clutch by Edie Parker.

I like the thought of Evan Rachel Wood always looking glam wherever she goes – even for non-step and repeat red carpet events. It reminds me of those olde timey black & white candid photographs where everyone was always so put together and polished, like old men in suits, ties and hats, just to go to the Post Office.
Incidentally, I saw Drive in the theaters, and I expected it to be the usual Hollywood/Michael Bay drudge of car crashes, chases and explosions, but I was drawn in by the tenderness of the love story juxtaposed with bursts of shocking violence. I came for the Gosling and stayed for a truly amazing film.
