At the 18th SAG Awards, newbie Emilia Clarke who plays badass Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, looked every bit as regal as her character. Her dazzling black and white Chanel gown, from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection, was comprised of cap sleeves, an embroidered leaf belt and a black feathery skirt. The structured neckline and bold sleeves were some of the factors that helped add a queenly air to her presence. It’s definitely a bold look and not for everyone.
Emilia chose simple and understated Chopard jewelry that let the dress do all the impressing. I like that she wore her hair up, but I think her dress might have given even more oomph had her updo been more sleek and polished.
If you think the dress looks familiar it’s because cutie and also newbie Zoe Kravitz wore it to the 2011 UNICEF Snowflake Ball last November. Because Zoe wore it without the belt I think Emilia wore it better. The belt works in binding the whole look together. Also, unless your name is Rooney Mara, those bangs are difficult to make flattering.
I love that the model donning the dress for the Chanel collection is in front of a background that looks the last place we saw Emilia in Game of Thrones (Spoiler alert!) – rising nude from the ashes carrying BABY DRAGONS!
I also love that her character, Daenerys Targaryen, is such a fearless and courageous female character – and Emilia does such an incredible job portraying her. For you Game of Thrones fans out there, the enthralling HBO series returns with season 2 in April of this year and I can’t wait.
