Just when I think I’m beginning to understand some of the rules of fashion, Diane Kruger takes them all and shatters them. To top things off I’ve read many articles where she insists she only uses a stylist for big events like the Oscars.
She arrived looking effortlessly romantic as the Paris Haute-Couture Fashion Week came to close, to the Sidaction Gala Dinner 2012 – an event that helps promote awareness and funding for AIDS. The 35-year-old actress wore a beautiful silver dress, from the Erdem Spring 2012 collection, with an asymmetrical hem underneath and a flowery lace, sheer overlay covering her legs down to the floor and her arms in a three quarters sleeve.
I’m usually opposed to any kind of sheerness over a short skirt – a skirt veil if you will, but Diane proved she has the superpowers to make anything she wears look stunning and created a look that’s both sultry and sweet. Who knew floral lace could look so vampy!
To help pull the look together she wore her hair sleek and slicked back behind her shoulders and showing her floral shoulder length earrings. She also carried a silver metallic clutch by Alexander McQueen and nude Louboutin strappy sandals.
I think the asymmetrical hemline helped make her whole look work. Its uniqueness somehow makes the solid short skirt and the sheer leg veil flow beautifully. Maybe it’s the combination of the two unorthodox looks that makes it work. However, it’s probably just due to the fact that she wears everything so well. Seriously though, it’s probably just because it’s Diane Kruger – she rarely disappoints.
