Charlize Theron is Gorgeously Majestic in Christian Dior Couture

At the London premiere of Snow White and the Huntsman last Monday night, Charlize Theron looked radiantly regal in a Christian Dior spring 2012 haute couture gown. The sheer black tulle looped around her neck like a halter top, and her pleated skirt gracefully grazed the ground. The upper torso of her dress included a discreet beige lining while her lower half was left oh-so-bare and risqué.

Normally, I’m not that big on sheer skirts because they inevitably have some kind of solid miniskirt action underneath, making it look like the skirt is at a skirt funeral, complete with a veil. However, I’m pleased that Charlize went with black briefs instead of letting her hips play peek-a-boo with the sheer pleated fabric.

She wore her hair in a sleek, side-parted, twisted updo, allowing all the drama to stay focused on her dress. Charlize also kept her accessories simple with jade ball drop earrings and a beautifully matched cuff bracelet, both by Solange Azagury-Partridge. She complemented the dramatic gown with black strappy shoes, a great choice to avoid looking too heavy or busy for the sheerness of the dress.

In the film Snow White and the Huntsman, which opens June 1st and also stars Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron plays the beautiful, yet vain, Evil Queen who paved the way for evil stepmothers everywhere in fairy tales, including Cinderella’s evil stepmother. Although both seemed to enjoy treating their stepdaughters like slaves, the Evil Queen in Snow White one ups the one in Cinderella by actually trying to kill her poor stepdaughter twice! She probably won some kind of award at the Fairy Tale Villains Convention. Evil Stepmothers Unite!
