The 40th American Music Awards Fashion: Metallic Means Best-Dressed

Stars dressed to impress at the 40th American Music Awards held in LA on November 18. Some shone and shimmered. But there were those who faltered and lacked the luster, that is, got the wrong color combi or who were just plainly a wardrobe disaster we have no words for.

Stars who used a touch of gold in their ensembles turned up on our best-dressed list along with a few others who didn’t but still managed to steal the spotlight and get our fashion hawk-eyes glued on them.

Here are Celebrity Clothing Line‘s picks for the stars who did not necessarily win awards but won our approval hands-down with their classy fashion tastes:

Taylor Swift

Oh, yes. She won as Best Female Country Artist, but Taylor Swift was also a winner in this ensemble. Pretty in a gold, floral mini-dress by Zuhair Murad, the songstress completed her look with golden sandals from Jimmy Choo. Golden Girl in all aspects indeed.

Heidi Klum

Fact of life: Heidi will always be leggy. She repeated her feat at the recent MTV Europe Music Awards with this gold lace dress by Alexandre Vauthier. Like Taylor, she completed her golden ensemble with matching footwear—from Louboutin.

Carrie Underwood

Out of the three dresses Carrie Underwood wore, this was the clear winner—a shimmering purple creation by Abed Mahfouz.

Stacy Keibler

We loved Stacy Keibler in her pretty Halloween costume a few weeks ago. Now, George Clooney’s girlfriend has impressed us once again with this metallic patterned mini dress from Collette Dinnigan—which she paired with golden pumps. So right!

Carly Rae Jepsen

It’s not a maybe. Carly Rae Jepsen may be new to the AMA red carpet, but she definitely won us over with this sequined pastel pink ensemble. Sweet.

Gwen Stefani

Gwen. Dress her up in anything, and she always rocks. Here she is with her dressed-down black trousers and metallic patterned jacket. Top that with a blazing performance. No question, she’s our favorite chic rock chick.

Lucy Hale

Okay, this isn’t really metallic, but we couldn’t resist adding it on our list. Lucy Hale just gave a new and fuller meaning to the concept of the little black dress. She’s between pretty and glam with this full-skirt dress and red pumps.

The American Music Awards was a spectacle of fame, glamour, and fashion disaster—the latter, we’ve decided to keep mum about. After all, we said we had no words for wardrobe disasters. Except maybe for “too-bright colors” and “bulge pitifully squeezed into some ill-fitting gown.”
