The Golden Globes 2013 wasn’t only a showcase of acting chops but also a bevy of cuts, colors, and details. As presenters served up awards, our leading ladies of the red carpet dished out delightful dresses. Here are our favorite frocks from the recent Golden Globes.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift stuns in this sophisticated backless gown from Donna Karan. It’s the first time we’ve seen her in deep plum, and we say it works—elegantly.
Katharine McPhee
Ms. McPhee doesn’t always get it right. In fact, it’s the first time we so agree with her choice of outfit. The dress features a plunging neckline (or does it have one?) and a thigh-high slit. The satiny black fabric works well with her fair skin. The two-strap black sandals and the bare painted toes are very pretty.
Carly Steel
Carly Steel displays classic Hollywood glamour in this ensemble. The fitted gold bodice is reminiscent of Amanda Seyfried’s dress back at the premiere of Les Miserables, which we loved, of course. Looks like the fabric of the skirt is so soft. The skirt is flowing. The matching clutch and the top knot are the perfect complement. You don’t need elaborate accessories or jewelry for this dress.
Jennifer Lawrence
We’re not fans of bright red, but Jennifer Lawrence wins in this tomato red gown from Dior Haute Couture. The fitted bodice provides a nice contrast to the full, A-line skirt. The tiny metallic belt calls attention to the actress’ trim waist.
Lea Michele
Lea Michele looks gleeful in this shimmery floor-length frock from Elie Saab. She proves to us that you can wear white without being boring. The dress features a side slit and a halter neck, but it’s the sparkly details that give the outfit its character!
