Now that the Cannes Film Festival is in full swing, the mega A-listers are beginning to arrive. That’s why we weren’t surprised to see Angelina Jolie arrives just in time for her Kung Fu Panda 2 press call and photo opportunity with the media on the morning of May 12th. What did surprise us, however, was her unexpected choice to wear a touch of color to the event. We’re so used to seeing this star wear moody black, we almost didn’t recognize her in the head-to-toe nude Ferragamo ensemble she wore. Nonetheless, we’re totally digging the airy look on Angie – and as usual, we’re mesmerized by her gorgeous, carefree mane. Even in the heat and humidity of Cannes in late spring, she manages to look flawless. But there are plenty of tricks to snagging a similar look on a budget, so read below for our best tips.
If you’ve fallen into an Angie-like fashion rut consisting of black, black and more black, it’s time to lighten up for the warmer months. Take a cue from Jolie and ease into spring and summer colors with frothy shades of beige, taupe and nude. Soft neutrals are still appropriate and understated, but make a slightly more impactful statement than all black, all the time. As much as we love her neutral ensemble, we actually think her carefree, effortlessly glamorous hairstyle is her best accessory. Achieving a similar look is probably easier than you think. The secret to pumping up the volume and reducing frizz in the heat is relying on “second-day hair.” That means, shampoo the afternoon or night before a big event, and let your locks completely air dry. Use your night’s sleep as your best style tool, and wind the ends of your strands around a wide curling iron in the morning. Mist with wave-enhancing spray before you walk out the door, and you’ll be rocking Angie-like locks all summer.
