At the second to last final chapter of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 New York premiere, Ashley Green arrived in a dress that did not fail to impress. Ms. Alice Cullen strolled in wearing a stunner of dress, custom made by Donna Karan, exuding a modern take on glam style.
Filed under things that should not be, like the platypus (though they are pretty darn cute), Ashley Greene’s asymmetrical black and white dress….works! Yes, it looks like two dresses collided into one, but tell me she’s not working that thing. She just exudes confidence and attitude.
Despite the unusual collaborations – sleeveless/ long-sleeve, draped/breezy chiffon-like fabric, the two different styles – everything added together equals success! Somehow Ms. Greene has stumbled upon the perfect combination of opposites that complement each other in wonderful harmony. Separately the pieces might merit a just a “nyeh”, yet together she manages to pull the whole shebang off with style and grace.
She looks elegant and classic, yet youthful and modern. It has a cut-out on one side featuring one of her abdomen muscles – of which mine has no knowledge of, yet it’s demure and subtle enough to work in favor of her dress. It’s as if each different piece sacrificed its own singular attention for the great of the whole – an admirable feat to be sure.
The curved part in her sleek locks serves her dress well, as does the minimal makeup, allowing the dress to shine on its own. I love that she was willing to take a risk – because it paid off. Ashley paired the look with Cartier drop earrings and Casadei black peep toe satin pumps.
