Admittedly, Charlize Theron has the kind of knockout body that would look fantastic in a potato sack – yet, she always manages to make fashion choices that make her look even hotter. She’s had some jaw-dropping red carpet gowns and has even taken home the coveted Best Actress nod at the Academy Awards. When she won, we think her glittering Gucci gown made more headlines than her intensely real performance as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2004 film, “Monster.” Ms. Theron can often be found on best-dressed lists, weather she’s gracing a glamorous red carpet or running errands in her effortless casual style.
In addition to resembling a lifesize Barbie doll with serious acting chops, the South African native is also passionate about giving back. The Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Benefit contributes money every year toward better living conditions for poverty stricken children and families in her home country. This year, the highly anticipated charity gala was held on December 6 at New York City’s Darby Restaurant – and not surprisingly, Theron nailed her look. She chose a contrasting black-and-white color palate that looked fresh, modern and simultaneously edgy.
Of course, Charlize looked white-hot in her Spring 2011 Versace cocktail dress. Although the frock was gorgeous and perfectly tailored, it would have veered dangerously close to inappropriate-for-December-in-NYC territory had it not been for her Stella McCartney cropped black blazer. In typical Theron fashion, she took a look and totally made it her own with the unexpected addition of a black blazer. The topper took an otherwise white cocktail frock and made it charity business-appropriate. In fact, we just might need to steal a similar look for our next business meeting.
To polish the look even more, our favorite South African actress chose nude Versace sandals and a jet-black clutch bag for the event. Head to toe, we think she nailed this look, without going over-the-top. Try a black and white palate for your next formal affair!
