Elle Fanning at the Premiere of Super 8
Even though Elle Fanning was born in 1998, she knows how to work 1970s chic like no other starlet on the red carpet. We spotted her at the star-studded premiere of her newest summer flick, Super 8, at the glamorous Regency Village Theatre in Westwood, CA, on Wednesday, June 8th in a cream colored vintage dress and platform sandals that left us with a serious case of wardrobe envy. The young style star reportedly loves vintage clothing and, appropriately, donned a gorgeous 70s-era maxi to the premiere. Elle plays Alice in the Spielberg-produced blockbuster, which is actually set in 1979, so we think her dress was pitch-perfect for the evening.
Elle’s crystal-embroidered creation featured flattering chiffon sleeves, and we’re thrilled that strapless silhouettes are evidently on their way out of style. Sleeves are a great way to experiment with different shapes without veering into inappropriate, skin-bearing frocks, and we wish more celebs would embrace the elegant style. We especially love this look on Elle, and think it’s age-appropriate and fashion forward for the confidant, talented 13-year-old.
In addition to the flattering and feminine shape of her dress, Elle completed her vintage ensemble with Marcia Brady-inspired hair and makeup. Fortunately, her beauty routine is simple to recreate at home, even for cosmetic novices. Elle’s silky, center-parted blow out is a classic style that flatters every face shape, and all you need to get the look is a round brush and hair dryer! Start with damp hair, and create a sleek center part with a rattail comb. Smooth out locks with your brush as you dry, and flip ends up for a distinctly vintage twist.
For Elle’s barely-there makeup look, start with tinted moisturizer and add a just-pinched pink cheek color for a naturally pretty flush. Finish with a tinted lip balm just two shades darker than your own lip color for a summer premiere-worthy look from head to toe!
