Eva Longoria at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund Awards
After her painful public split from NBA star Tony Parker, Eva Longoria’s been looking better than ever on the red carpet. We’re thrilled she’s bouncing back from her heartbreaking divorce, and even hear that she’s enjoying a blossoming romance with Spanish pop music sensation (and Penelope’s brother) Eduardo Cruz. Eva’s well known for supporting organizations and causes that help her fellow Mexican-American citizens, so we weren’t surprised when we spotted her arriving at the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund Awards, held at the pristine Renaissance Mayflower Hotel in Washington, DC on Wednesday, June 15th. The gorgeous brunette chose a totally unexpected sage green frock from Monique Lhuillier’s Spring 2011 collection, and we’re already planning a shopping trip to scope out a similar hue for ourselves. Keep reading to discover how to wear an equally muted shade this summer, and even steal a few of Eva’s get-gorgeous tips!

Before we can discuss how to steal Eva’s stunning hair and makeup, we need to address the impeccable cut and color of her frock. Different shades of green are huge every spring, but we’ve never seen a muted sage version quite like this. The one-shoulder, Chantilly lace confection is delicate and feminine, and the soft sage hue adds an unexpected element of romance to the silhouette. If you never thought you could wear shades of sage or mint in your own wardrobe, let Eva prove that even olive-skinned fashionistas can pull off the color with ease. In fact, we think this might be one of our favorite colors yet on the “Desperate Housewives” style star. She even accessorized with a pitch-perfect evening clutch by Jean-Jaques by Lena Erziak, and white satin peep toe platforms with a ladylike ankle strap.

The secret to looking fresh in a muted hue lies in your makeup routine. A classic pink or red lip color would fall flat and look dated against the soft green hue, so Eva opted for a tawny mauve, and paired it with a bronze cheek color. She completed her look with a face-brightening concealer and plenty of chocolate brown (not black) liner and mascara for a soft, romantic look.
