As much as we adore a great jaw-dropping designer gown on the red carpet, we still love to see stars break up the unending sea of ballgowns and party dresses at galas and premieres. But not everyone can pull off a chic suit at a black tie affair. It takes a true fashionista with a firm sense of personal style to effortlessly pull off pants for the paparazzi. That’s why we were thrilled to see Hilary Swank’s swanky suit at the Los Angeles premiere of Something Borrowed, held at Grauman’s Chinese Theater on Tuesday, May 3rd. We applaud Hilary for taking a bold fashion risk, and think it really paid off – because the starlet looked gorgeous in her monochromatic Michael Kors ensemble, straight off the designer’s Fall 2011 runway. Look below for photos of Hilary’s chic look, and discover why we think each piece of her outfit is pitch-perfect for a spring premiere.
We’ve already seen how hot nude dresses are for Spring and Summer 2011 – they seem to be surpassing even the classic little black dress for the stars’ go-to red carpet look. But Hilary’s Michael Kors pantsuit is the first we’ve seen of the LNS – the little nude suit. Just as sexy as a minidress, but a lot more comfortable, the LNS may be experiencing a major moment in the spotlight. Hilary’s version is just as formal as a red carpet dress, thanks to her jeweled Kors body suit. The bling throughout her bodice and sleeves adds just the right amount of sparkle to break up the monochromatic look and add a touch of unexpected glamour to the outfit.
Hilary’s nude-colored Michael Kors suit pants make her legs look like they never end, and her nude strappy platform stilettos add some extra height, as well. If you’re petite, this is a great star style tip. Look for flesh-toned pants – and make sure they are slim and tailored – like Hilary’s pick, to streamline your silhouette and add a few inches for the cameras.

We love that Hilary kept every accessory within her simple and clean color palate – right down to her beige leather belt and clutch bag, all by Michael Kors. We are really digging this monochromatic style, and think it could work in your wardrobe, as well. Nude hues can even work for the office, as long as you anchor the frothy color with black shoes and a black belt. Will you be trying a similar shade this spring?
