We’d hate to rush through the upcoming summer months just to get to fall fashion. After all, we still have brand new beach hats and bikinis waiting to make their debut on the shoreline for Memorial Day Weekend. But we’re putting our hot summer plans on hold just for a moment, because we need to drool over a drop dead gorgeous Pre-Fall look, courtesy of Hilary Swank. The two-time Oscar winner arrived on the red carpet at the 2011 Joyful Heart Foundation Gala in New York City on Tuesday, May 17th in a flirty Oscar de la Renta frock that left us with a nasty case of fashion envy. Hilary’s dress, which is fresh off the Pre-Fall runway, has a decidedly spring-like feel, which is why it worked so well at a mid-May event. For starters, the tropical aqua-and-purple color palate transports us right to the Caribbean, so this dress won us over at first sight. We can’t imagine how this design fits into a fall collection, but we love it so much, we don’t care if it feels out of place come September. Similar colors will look amazing throughout the balmy summer, so have fun mixing and matching different shades of purple, pink and marine-inspired aqua this season.
The cut of Hilary’s dress is amazing, to boot. Her demure boat neckline and delicate cap sleeves make this particular frock completely appropriate for an evening charity event. If you’re not ready to jump into bright colors just yet, look for similar shapes with a cinched waist in your favorite muted solids like black, gray and navy.
