Jayma Mays at the 2011 Critics Choice Television Awards
On Monday, June 20th, some of our favorite fashionable stars of the small screen assembled in Beverly Hills to celebrate the inaugural Critics Choice Television Awards, hosted by Cat Deeley of So You Think You Can Dance. To commemorate the historical night, celebrities really brought their fashion A-games, and we loved so many of the night’s looks, we’d have trouble choosing a favorite! Courtney Cox’s Lanvin snakeskin frock was amazing, and so was Christina Hendricks’ fierce little black dress. But we think Glee’s Jayma Mays deserves top fashion honors for the evening, because we’re totally smitten with her strapless watercolor frock by Elise Overland.
The gorgeous redhead even accessorized perfectly (and affordably!) with a fold-over clutch bag in a luscious camel hue from Ann Taylor! Keep reading for more star style and beauty tips from Emma Pillsbury herself!

For starters, the strapless neckline and tulip-style skirt is the perfect silhouette for petite Jayma. But even if you don’t have a star-worthy figure, a similar shape would be equally flattering for your next summer soirée. If you look closely at Jayma’s skirt, you’ll see plenty of feminine draping and pleating that adds a fun visual element to her frock, and is also a great way to camouflage a problem area like a tummy or hips. Look for similar styles at any price point this summer, and a solid color might work great if you’re wary of such a frothy print.
We happen to adore the multicolored pattern, and think it’s a great way to add an element of whimsy to any ensemble! If you’re not ready for Jayma-inspired head-to-toe watercolor, try a splash of color in your handbag or headband to lighten up a black, navy or nude dress in your own closet.

In addition to her pitch-perfect frock, we’re digging Jayma’s hair and makeup routine, too. We love her ladylike ballerina bun, and encourage you to try a similar style to beat the heat at your next outdoor party. We especially love her marine-inspired teal manicure, which actually anchors the pastels in her dress. Try a similar shade this season for an updated version of the navy nail trend!
