Jennifer Aniston may be our reigning favorite “Friend,” but she often takes a beating from fashion critics for always looking, well, the same. Not exactly known for taking style risks with her clothes, hair or makeup, Jen is consistently snapped with her signature – albeit pristine – shoulder-length, middle-parted blonde locks, simple and pretty makeup, and usually in all-American ensembles like jeans and tees, or little black dresses. There’s a reason why those particular styles have become classics – and Ms. Aniston certainly has her look down to a science, but there is also something to be said for mixing up a signature style for special occasions. And at the 37th annual People’s Choice Awards at L.A.’s famed Nokia Theatre, Aniston actually took a tiny step outside of her fashion box.

The actress was one of the night’s featured presenters, and in typical Jen fashion, she donned a head-to-toe black look. But this time, she added a twist – a tailored Dolce & Gabbana vest and slacks ensemble – and stood out in a sea of glittery evening gowns on the red carpet. We’re giving Jen major points for this unusual look, not only because it’s a small twist on her typical red carpet LBD, but also because she’s actually wearing a 2011 trend: menswear.
Jen is famous for avoiding trends, and sticks to her classic style whether she’s dressed up or down. You’ll rarely catch the star in a studded platform or frilly, ruffled top. She keeps her style streamlined and timeless in pointy black Manolos and white button down blouses. We’re loving the fact that she took a risk here with a new look.
We’re also in awe of Jen’s ability to maintain such a fierce figure! At almost 42 – Aniston’s birthday is fast approaching on February 11 – her body rivals those of starlets half her age! We’re applauding her for knowing how to make her shape look even more fabulous in her cleavage-bearing Dolce & Gabbana vest. What do you think of this look? And if you’re considering a similar suit for the office, please remember to layer a business-appropriate top underneath!
