Prince William and Kate Middleton 10th Annual ARK Gala Dinner
For a couple who swore before their wedding that they’d rather sink into obscurity than live in the public eye of the Royals, they’ve certainly been enjoying some of the many perks that accompany their Royal bloodline. Sure, some of their glamorous engagements are mandatory – like meeting and greeting our own President and Mrs. Obama earlier this spring. But others are just for fun, like arriving in a shiny blue Jaguar and donning a $6,000 Jenny Packham gown to the 10th Annual Absolute Return for Kids Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace on Thursday, June 9. We can’t say we blame the newly minted Duchess of Cambridge for taking advantage of her abundant available resources, especially when it comes to her wardrobe. Besides, despite her gown’s exorbitant price tag in a time when so many people are struggling financially, we can’t deny that she looks absolutely beautiful. In fact, we’re willing to put the Royal couple’s hypocrisy aside for a few moments while we drool over Kate’s gorgeous, glittery look.

Kate has a model figure, which makes it fairly easy to choose looks that will be perfect for her. And so far, she hasn’t made a single fashion misstep since bursting into public consciousness at the beginning of her relationship with Prince William. Although she always looks classic, polished and put together, she hasn’t taken any major style risks, which is starting to make her critics grumble. Finally, on June 9, she silenced every fashion blogger and columnist who insists that her wardrobe choices are “plain” or “safe” in her whisper pink, mixed-media Jenny Packham creation. We think Kate looked flawless and appropriate for the charity gala, and agree she should wear pastels more often! The chiffon ruffle details at the neckline and sleeves create an effortless summer silhouette that compliments her ever-present bouncy brunette waves. The crystal waistline detail accentuates how slim the princess is, but the high neckline keeps things modest and feminine. Do you love this gown as much as we do? Or are you suffering from Royal sticker shock over the price?
