We love that fact that Katie Holmes has been stepping out on her own lately. As much as we love Tom Cruise – and the two beautiful brunettes together as a couple – sometimes we worry that Katie looses a bit of herself in wife-and-mommy-hood. But she’s proving everyone wrong as she embarks on a press tour for her critically acclaimed role in the controversial mini documentary series, “The Kennedys.” The star-studded miniseries stirred up quite a lot of negative buzz when the History Channel refused to air it, citing historical discrepancies. Recently, it’s back in the news because tiny, little-known cable network ReelzChannel purchased the entire series (which cost over $25 million to produce) for a reported $7 million. And now, despite all the controversy – and alleged threats from Kennedy family insiders to have it taken off air – “The Kennedys” will premiere on ReelzChannel in April.
Of course, we can’t get enough juicy Hollywood gossip, but what we’re loving even more than the salacious celebrity scoop is Katie Holmes’ premiere look. The star, who nailed her role as Jackie Kennedy in the series, arrived at “The Kennedys” World Premiere at the AMPAS Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills in a pitch-perfect Spring 2011 look from Ralph Lauren.
We love Katie’s look from head to toe, and are completely smitten with the moody blue-gray hue of her dress. Not only is that color unexpected and totally unique, but we think it’s a perfect fit for impending April showers and the Spring 2011 fashion trends. In true Katie fashion, the style icon paired her lacy blue frock with nude strappy sandals for a classy and sophisticated color combination.
Katie’s always a fashion hit in our book, but her “S” initial pendant stole our hearts and earned her even more stylish points. We love her subtle nod to daughter Suri – and initial pendants will never go out of style. Don’t have a child just yet?
