Kim Kardashian at Glamour Magazine Women of the Year Awards
Still on her newly engaged high, Kim Kardashian made a pilgrimage across The Pond on Tuesday, June 7 to celebrate the Glamour Magazine Women of the Year Awards in London, held at iconic Berkeley Square Gardens. Even though the fabulous event celebrated the best of all things British, we Yankees can rest assured that Kim represented us well. In fact, we’ve never seen her look better – and applaud her for taking a style risk in her super sexy, strapless floor length Dolce & Gabbana evening gown. At first glance, you might not think a black evening gown is risky, but Kim managed to amp up her style with sleek and chic hair and accessories. We especially love her sophisticated, center parted chignon – and think that a similar ‘do might be a perfect go-to summer style, even if you don’t run a reality television empire!
Kim’s always been proud of her feminine curves – and we give her credit for serving as a great confidence-boosting role model for women of all shapes and sizes. She’s been vocal about helping her younger sisters, Kendall and Kylie, achieve body confidence, and she’s certainly a woman who practices what she preaches in figure-hugging silhouettes. Her black lace Dolce & Gabbana gown leaves little to the imagination, and we think Kim looks amazing in the skintight shape.
As much as we adore her gown, the real fashion focus here is on Kim’s drool-worthy hair and accessories. We’re so used to seeing the raven-haired beauty with long, loose waves, that her sleek center part bun was a fun and refreshing change. Her tight updo allowed her stunning Lorraine Schwartz drop earrings to take center stage.
A similar hairstyle is a great way to stay cool this season, and is surprisingly easy to DIY at home. Start with damp hair, and smooth your favorite gel throughout the length. Create a clean center part with a rattail comb, and secure locks at the nape of your neck. Neatly wrap your ponytail into a ballerina bun for a Kim-inspired style that will beat the heat!
