You know how much we love Kim Kardashian’s sense of style around here, but sometimes, it’s nice to see her switch things up a bit. After all, how many skintight mini dresses and pairs of sky-high Christian Louboutin heels can one star own? Even though she’s found a signature style that works for her (also known as “lots of skin”) we love when Kim covers up. It keeps us on our toes, and more importantly for her, keeps us talking about the Kardashians.
Since punk princess Avril Lavigne has been dating Kim’s brother Brody Jenner for several months, we weren’t surprised to see our favorite raven-haired, buxom beauty arrive on the red carpet for Avril’s latest album-release party on March 8th at SL Lounge in New York City. What did surprise us was Kim’s uncharacteristically modest ensemble. We loved the look, and are thinking about stealing a few elements for our own wardrobes!
For starters, the only skin showing in this outfit is a bit of ankle, which can be sexier than lots of leg. Take a cue from Kim for your next night out with the girls, and remember that subtlety can be even more stylish than full-blown bombshell style. Kim’s black leather leggings are a perfect way to show off her fab figure, but she balances out her silhouette with a loose-fitting white jacket. It’s important to balance super suggestive pieces with more modest ones to create a look that’s more star stylish than strip club-chic.
Kim’s snakeskin clutch and black patent leather platforms provide plenty of edginess to the ensemble, and since she kept her color palate neutral, her animal print bag makes a big statement. If you love similar jungle-inspired pieces, remember to keep the rest of your look neutral, like Kim did here. We love this outfit from head to toe, and will definitely be taking inspiration from Kim as the weather heats up. What do you think of this style?
