Unless you’ve been living in some sort of fashion-less vacuum this summer, you know that little white dresses are absolutely everywhere. Savvy shoppers have been digging up their most flattering white frocks everywhere from Bloomingdale’s to Target this year, and accessorizing them with everything from neutral metallics to loud neons. We’re complete suckers for the summertime look, and have yet to see a LWD we don’t love. But if you’re as smitten with the airy look as we are, it’s important to remember a few steadfast rules to successfully rock your white frock without becoming a victim. Between it’s uncertain level of sheerness and it’s uncanny ability to completely wash out a pale complexion, white can be undoubtedly tricky – but we recently spotted a look on LeAnn Rimes at the 2011 ESPY Awards Pre-Party that hits all the right notes when it comes to wearing the ghostly hue.

The fun event, which was held in Hollywood on Monday, July 11th, called for stars and athletes alike to wear their most flirty summer ensembles. LeAnn certainly didn’t disappoint, and arrived practically glowing in the “Blake” dress by Boulee, and funky, embellished gold platform sandals by Alexander McQueen. She added plenty of dainty gold bangle bracelets and a metallic gold shoulder strap bag to her crisp look, which we think lent her dress the perfect amount of sparkle. Bronze eyes, matte pink lipstick and beachy hair were all the finishing touches the country crooner needed to make her look stand out on the red carpet.

The reason why LeAnn’s fair skin didn’t look completely washed out in her white dress is because she was careful to add enough bronze to her makeup. If you’re interested in wearing head-to-toe white, it’s important to keep your skin warm and glowing, or you’ll risk an ashy, stonewashed skin tone. LeAnn prepped her perfect gams with a shimmery self-tanner, and added plenty of gold-laced bronzer to her nose and cheeks. Experiment with different products until you find the perfect amount of glow for you own LWD!
