It’s been a while since we’ve seen Michelle Williams work a red carpet. After a string of career successes (2005’s Oscar winning Brokeback Mountain) and personal achievements following closely behind (Williams’ daughter with the late Heath Ledger, Matilda Rose, was born in 2005 as well), the talented actress took some time off to focus on family. Of course, the world was watching as the proud mother moved on with life after the tragic and untimely loss of Ledger in January 2008 – and fans have had the privilege of watching little Matilda grow into a veritable Heath look-alike in the years since.
Williams and her little family have seemed happy and content – and it appears she’s finally ready to jump headfirst back into making daring and critically acclaimed films. Her most recent realistic drama, “Blue Valentine” – which hits theaters this month – is creating early buzz not only for it’s two superb stars, Williams and costar Ryan Gosling, but also for it’s initial NC-17 rating by the Motion Picture Association of America. The movie depicts Williams’ and Gosling’s characters in a twisted and dysfunctional marriage – and subsequently, all of the drama and heartache that goes along with it. And while we can’t wait to hit theaters and check out her latest flick – whose producers, by the way, eventually negotiated a much more box office-friendly R rating – we’re even giddier about the Azzaro sparkler she chose for the film’s New York City premiere on December 7 at The Museum of Modern Art.
The ivory party dress featured a beaded bodice, ruffled skirt and black velvet bow at the waist. Williams’ sequined black pumps and sleek black clutch rounded out the Audrey Hepburn-esque look, and her now-signature blonde crop was perfection. We’re so glad to see our favorite “Dawson’s Creek” alumni looking so fresh and beautiful after a long hiatus – and even happier that she’s providing us with plenty of style inspiration!
