Minka Kelly in Sheer J. Mendel

Minka Kelly in Sheer J. Mendel

Minka Kelly first won us over as preppy cheerleader Lyla Garrity on NBC’s 2007 smash hit, “Friday Night Lights.” When the show was canceled after 4 mini-seasons, we worried that the wildly talented cast might slip into Hollywood obscurity. But fortunately for fans of the show, which was based on the movie of the same name – and also for lovers of fashion and style, Minka has once again found her footing in films. Most recently, her Valentine’s Day-themed thriller, “The Roommate,” is hitting theaters soon – and alongside costar (and “Gossip Girl”) Leighton Meester, we think Minka might just make a roaring comeback. At the flick’s L.A. premiere on January 26th in West Hollywood, Minka wowed fashion critics in a super sexy, sheer chiffon J. Mendel dress.

We knew the girl had serious acting chops thanks to her emotional portrayal of a broken-hearted high schooler in “FNL,” but her most recent look was the first time we realized that she’s lucky enough to have major fashion cred, to boot! Her monochromatic look is dead on-trend for the upcoming season, and the pale marble hue is the perfect complement to Minka’s beautiful complexion. Nude tones are huge for Spring 2011, but we love that instead of opting for a skin tone dupe, Ms. Kelly choose a much lighter shade, which further modernizes her choice.

Minka accessorized minimally with a classic Calvin Klein evening bag and flesh-toned Salvatore Ferragamo peep toe platforms. The only pop of stylish color was her vibrant turquoise Jack Vartanian cocktail ring. We are totally in love with the idea of a tiny burst of contrasting color with an otherwise monochromatic look.

If you’re into this idea for Spring 2011, you don’t need to land an acting gig opposite a “Gossip Girl” to foot the bill. Candy-colored baubles will be available at every price point – from Kohl’s to Barney’s this season, so keep your eyes peeled for great deals on stylish jewelry, and you’ll be as on-trend as Minka!
