More Shapewear From The Housewives

We recently reported on Jill Zarin’s plan to launch a line of shapewear called Squeez. Well, we’ve got more news on the shapewear front. And you’ll surely be interested to know that there is another real housewife who has decided to launch a line of shaping undergarments. Soon, Jill Zarin’s Squeez will not be the only game in town…literally. Bethenny Frankel, Jill’s co-star, plans to add shapewear to Skinnygirl, her expanding brand.

While a great deal of shapewear is rather plain if not downright matronly, Bethenny’s collection promises to be pretty and sexy. The undergarments — which will range from camisoles and tank tops to slips, leggings, and high-waisted briefs — will have the seamless look of classic shapewear but with lace detailing and a fun range of colors. In addition to beige and black, these pieces will also be available in red, which Bethenny refers to as her signature color. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, she also explained that red is a confidence color. Her reason for excluding white from the grouping? “(B)ecause it can make anyone look bigger,” she said in the same interview. Clearly, it is much better to feel confident than puffy while dressing in shapewear for the day!
In addition to shapewear, this new Skinnygirl line will include other types of undergarments, namely a collection of fun pieces that Bethenny refers to as “lazy lingerie.” While the shapewear may be designed to be both fun and utilitarian, this other line, is more focused on fun and relaxation.
Much like Jill’s collection of undergarments, the Skinnygirl line will be competitively priced. While many body shapers can cost up to $100 for a single item, pieces in the Skinnygirl line will range from $20 to $40. They will be available for sale later this month.
