It seems only fitting that, after 25 years of reporting and interviewing people all over the world – not to mention hosting daytime’s highest rated show for the same amount of time – Oprah Winfrey had the honor of presenting “Best Documentary” at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards on February 27th. Oprah has made several appearances on the Oscar red carpet over the years, but this time, she opted to skip the grand arrival and surprise everyone when she walked onto the Oscar stage. And considering how much the talk show host loves surprises (Favorite Things, anyone?) we think her secret entrance was perfectly appropriate, in celebration of her final season. As usual, Oprah was perfectly poised, and appeared completely at ease with such a huge (live!) audience. She was the quintessential perfect presenter, but we were too busy drooling over her custom Zac Posen creation to focus too much on her words. In our opinion, Oprah has never looked better – so read on for event photos, and learn how to dress your curves like Oprah!

After years of roller coaster weight management and yo-yo dieting, Oprah recently told Barbara Walters in an exclusive interview that she is officially through with depriving herself. She exercises daily, eats moderately, and indulges when she wants to – and it looks like her deprivation-free lifestyle is really working for her. The combination of Oprah’s new body-love and the impeccable cut and fit of her Posen creation was the perfect storm of gorgeousness on Hollywood’s biggest night. We can all learn a few valuable style lessons from taking a closer look at Oprah’s Oscar ensemble.
For starters, the dark charcoal hue was perfect for Oprah’s skin tone. We’re thrilled she didn’t opt for basic black (too boring) or a bright shade (too loud for Best Documentary presenter). She often favors bright colors for her show, but steered clear of anything too garish for the awards. The cinched waist and three-quarter sleeves of the gown balanced her cleavage-bearing neckline, and created the perfect mix of sexiness and modesty for the show. The ombre sequins are dead-on trend for the season, and we’ll be looking for similar details on our next shopping trip. Oprah doesn’t glam up often, but when she does, she hits her look out of the ballpark – or, should we say, the Kodak Theatre?
