The former Kate Middleton wore a sapphire blue Issa dress to formally announce her engagement alongside then-fiancée (now husband and King-to-be) Prince William – and the dress sold out within a matter of hours across the globe. She then chose an elegant white frock by another UK-based design house, Reiss, for her official Palace engagement photos. That dress instantly sold out as well. Since her lavish wedding on April 29th, knockoffs of her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown have sold out just as quickly. We’re sensing a pattern. Princess Kate – now formally known as Duchess Catherine of Cambridge – has great style, and an amazing figure, to boot.

Not surprisingly, the camel Reiss dress she chose for her first official appearance since she and her cutie pie hubby returned from their Seychelles honeymoon, also sold out. Keep reading for photos of her royal meeting with our very own President and Mrs. Obama, who were in London in May on diplomatic business.

Here in the States, we revere Michelle Obama as our own homegrown political style star. But if anyone could outdo Mrs. Obama, it’s Princess Kate. And at their meeting on Tuesday, May 24th, she may have done just that. We’re completely smitten with Kate’s entire look – right down to her unexpected black pumps. In fact, we may need to head over to the Reiss website and order a Shola Bandage Dress for ourselves – that is, once the online retail site is back up and running after multiple crashes due to heavy traffic.

Camel was a huge fall 2010 trend, and we have a feeling it will be back with a vengeance once the weather cools down for 2011. The creamy, tawny hue is basically the world’s most perfect neutral, since it looks equally fabulous on every skin tone. You can even wear the look during the summer months, as long as you pair it with gold or white accessories. Kate looked royally chic with a simple pair of black pointy pumps and a gold necklace. Thankfully, looking effortlessly elegant is a whole lot easier than snagging a handsome prince!
