Menswear was a huge Fall and Winter 2010 trend. We adored every starlet who dared to wear sleek and streamlined trousers, structured collared shirts – and even boy-inspired ties. In our opinion, there’s nothing sexier than when a woman is confident enough to borrow from the boys – and still look feminine! In fact, the only problem with menswear is that it’s not exactly adaptable for warmer weather. Wool and tweed are perfect for autumn, but aren’t necessarily great choices for when the mercury rises, so the chic fad unfortunately melted away with the snow. We admit, we’ve missed seeing our favorite fashionable celebrities steal looks from their manly counterparts. Luckily, Rachel McAdams wowed us in a surprisingly frothy version of summer-appropriate menswear at the glitzy after party of her Midnight in Paris screening at the Soho Grand Hotel in Cannes on Wednesday, May 18th.

The starlet opted for a tuxedo-style jumpsuit, straight off Azzaro’s Fall 2011 runway, but made the tricky look perfect for the tropical Cannes weather with a few sneaky style tricks. One-piece jumpsuits aren’t easy to wear, but Rachel’s version is super flattering on her tiny frame. She even manages to look glamorous in pleated-front pants, which is the fashion equivalent of conquering Mt. Everest. We think the inconspicuous cinching at the waist helps keep this look flirty and feminine, rather than frumpy. We love that Rachel didn’t wear a belt, because that might have sent her ensemble too far into the Men’s Section.

Certainly, Rachel’s super sexy black patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps are the perfect accessory for her masculine look. If you’re interested in trying a similar style, make sure to up the feminine factor with your hottest heels. But the details that really make Rachel’s look pop are her hair and makeup. The Marilyn Monroe-inspired messy curls and bright coral lip color make her Fall 2011 look totally appropriate for warm weather. To make your fall pieces wearable in the spring and summer, add a pop of bright color to lips or tips to keep things fresh, like Rachel.
