We’re so used to seeing moody actress Rose McGowan in gothic duds, that we almost didn’t recognize her at the March 17th Millennium Network event, sponsored by The Clinton Foundation in Los Angeles. The gala – which donated proceeds to aid ongoing relief efforts in Japan – featured star-studded speeches, awards, and even a knockout performance by Drake. But of course, what could be better than ogling star fashion for a wonderful cause? We loved McGowan’s silver Zac Posen creation so much, we’re considering borrowing her designer style as the weather warms up!

Before we discuss Rose’s stylish combination of contrasting metallics, we need to address her impeccable hair and makeup. The porcelain-skinned star often opts for dramatic, blood red lips and harsh black liquid liner, which can look garish against her pretty, pale canvas. But this time, she chose a surprisingly feminine shade of pink, which screams Spring 2011 and compliments her skin tone beautifully. Rose even ditched her usual vampire-esque complexion for a pop of cool pink blush on the apples of her cheeks. She toned down her eye makeup routine and instead of liquid liner, went with a softer charcoal smoky look. We think this combination of soft gray and bright pink are super modern and on-trend for Spring and Summer 2011 – not to mention universally flattering. Before summer is in full swing, give this fresh makeup look a try!
We adore Rose’s modern metallic mini frock for so many reasons, but it especially caught our eye because we’re so used to seeing the star in black, red, or dark purple, that a shimmering metallic dress is a bold, refreshing change. We even love the accessories she chose – nude pumps, a chic black belt, and contrasting bronze earrings – because it’s so outside of Rose’s usual comfort zone. Mixing metallics is actually a fun new way to wear the trend – so this Spring, take a cue from Rose and switch up your favorite reflective pieces!
