Selena Gomez Covers Billboard Magazine in Retro Style
Could Selena Gomez possibly be any cuter? The Disney star already has model looks, a bright and bubbly personality in the media, and an adorable blossoming romance with the most in-demand teen heartthrob in the world. And on the cover of Billboard Magazine’s June 2011 issue, she poses in a retro-style yellow two piece, alongside a giant nautical steering wheel, and begs the question, “Can Selena Gomez Steer Clear of the Post-Disney Curse?”
We’re not sure we believe in curses, especially when it comes to young Disney stars – but we can say with certainty that we believe in Selena’s amazing swimwear. We’re so smitten with the 18-year-old’s modest yellow bikini, that we might have to hunt down a similar version for our next beach trip.
This time of year, nothing is more fun and fresh than a yellow swimsuit – and Selena’s version has us completely smitten. In a sea of string bikinis, man thongs and general overexposure, a high-waisted, ladylike silhouette with a full-coverage halter neckline is exactly the summer inspiration we need to hit the beach!
If you’re interested in trying a retro, beach-ready style this year, you don’t need to break the bank. In fact, we’ve seen plenty of modest styles at our own local Macy’s and Target – but be careful about fit. Even with a full coverage suit, proper fit is key to looking your best on the sand. Do a full turn in the fitting room and make sure the fabric isn’t bunching or pulling on any trouble areas for your most flattering look.
Selena completed her cover ensemble with a stunning pair of gold t-strap stiletto sandals that added to her vintage-inspired style. We love this idea, but think a stiletto might not play well with the surf. Try a flat sandal with a similar strap to mimic the look. Don’t forget the SPF 30 – and a punchy pink pout – for a very Summer 2011 style. Blonde wig optional.
