On Thursday, December 2nd, some of our favorite fashionable Hollywood stars strutted their well-heeled selves down the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Hotel for the 20th Annual Beat the Odds Awards. Sponsored and hosted by the Children’s Defense Fund, the annual gala honors Los Angeles-area high school students for excellence in academic achievement and community service. As usual, the event was a great success and punctuated another wonderful year for the Children’s Defense Fund and all the great charitable work they do.
Among the fundraising and do-gooding, however, were some seriously fierce fashions. Of all the night’s stars, sexy Sofia Vergara gets our pick for best dressed with her amazing animal print heels. We love Sofia’s style and aren’t surprised when she makes best-dressed lists across the globe from her native Colombia all the way to LA. At age 38, the buxom actress can rock a minidress or cleavage-bearing blouse better than most 20-year-olds in the businesss – and embody the ultimate body confidence that only comes with feeling comfortable in her own skin. For the December 2 event, Ms. Vergara was totally appropriate for the warm Los Angeles evening in a velvet and satin mixed media little black dress by Paule Ka. The fabric and color were totally on-trend for the holiday season – yet the shorter length and one-shoulder style were perfect for the sometimes unpredictably balmy LA air.
Sofia perfectly complimented her LBD with the night’s piece de resistance – a pair of seriously sexy leopard print platforms in a chic gray and black color combination. The reason why we’re so crazy about this shoe is because, even though it’s animal print, it’s still a totally understated way to try the leopard trend without feeling flashy.
