The Fabulous Style of Dakota Fanning

And no, we’re not referring to Dakota, the 16-year-old acting prodigy we’ve seen blossom from a SAG Award-nominated seven-year-old to a stylish “Twilight” teen. We’re talking about her twelve – yes, twelve – year-old sister Elle, who is seamlessly following in the footsteps of her savvy sibling and just beginning to step into her own spotlight. The middle school-aged actress is most recently starring in “Spotlight,” a film costarring Stephen Dorff about a hard-partying Los Angeles playboy whose young daughter (Fanning) forces him to reexamine his priorities.

A Sophia Coppola-directed project, the film has already opened to rave reviews in Italy, but the American screening was held in New York City just last week. Sure, Fanning is already creating award show buzz for her knockout performance, but can we take a minute to talk about this seventh grader’s seriously fierce shoe collection?

At the NYC screening, Fanning stepped out in a pair of heels that could make the most jaded fashionista drool. She debuted an amazing pair of wedges from the newest collaborative project between shoe designer Nicholas Kirkwood and fashion house Rodarte. Normally, we’d be quick to mention that those are some pretty mature labels for a twelve-year-old, but she somehow makes them work – and look age-appropriate, to boot! Clearly, this girl’s not only inherited her sister’s pretty face and acting chops, but also a keen sense of unique and bold fashion sense, too! Some families have all the luck.

Although the Kirkwood/Rodarte wedges aren’t even available for purchase yet, their fabulous golden-bronze hue can serve as a great source of fashion inspiration. Warm metallics will be everywhere this spring, and are a great way to warm up your wardrobe along with the weather. Take a page out of Elle’s book (we cannot believe we’re advising you to take style inspiration from a girl who hasn’t yet entered high school) – and try a pop of gold or bronze in your accessory wardrobe this spring. You’ll be head of your fashion class in no time.
